• Despite being rear-wheel drive, the Jesko launches off the line with ferocity.
  • The Jesko launches from 124 mph – 186 mph quicker than it sprints to 62 mph.
  • Driving the car is a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 and the brand’s light-speed transmission.

The Koenigsegg Jesko is among the quickest production cars of all time, and during some recent testing at the Swedish automaker’s headquarters, has set a new top speed world record for a production car in the half-mile. The Rimac Nevera may have the Jesko beat from a standstill, but once the Jesko is up and running, it seems nothing can keep up with it.

With Koenigsegg’s test driver behind the wheel and a Dragy GPS timer onboard, the Jesko Absolute, which established several new world records last year, rocketed off the line and hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.79 seconds. While (amazingly…) that’s not earth-shattering these days, it’s very impressive for a car that delivers 1,600 hp exclusively through the rear wheels on an unprepped surface.

Once the Jesko can put all of its power to the ground, it accelerates from 100–200 km/h (62–124 mph) in 2.74 seconds and needs just 3.96 seconds to run from 200–300 km/h (124–186 mph). It storms through the quarter-mile in a breathtaking 8.88 seconds at 291 km/h (180.8 mph) and then storms down the half-mile in 13.27 seconds at 359.83 km/h (223.5 mph), setting a world record as if it were just out for a Sunday stroll.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about this video shared to Instagram by none other than Christian von Koenigsegg is just how well the car’s launch control system has been programmed. With so much power being put to the tarmac solely through the rear wheels, one would expect the Jesko to leave in a cloud of tire smoke. However, it gets off the line with hardly any wheelspin.

Carwow also had the chance to test out the same Jesko Absolute at Koenigsegg’s factory, lining it up against a Regera in the ultimate test of hypercar supremacy. Before the Jesko, the Regera held the record for the fastest 0-400-0 km/h (0-248-0 mph) time ever recorded in a production car, but it gets left in the dust by the Jesko in these drag races.
