From a young age, Katrice Justice knew what it meant to live with financial uncertainty. Growing up in Ottawa, Ontario, she experienced the ripple effects of money challenges in real time—like when her family’s cable was cut off after falling behind on bills. Those moments didn’t just shape her childhood; they shaped her mindset. By the time she reached university, financial pressure had already become a familiar weight. In her first year, she needed a business suit for a formal event. Encouraged by her parents to put it on her credit card with the understanding that they would help cover the cost, she later found herself having to use her own limited savings when her family simply couldn’t afford to pitch in. It was a moment that sharpened her sense of independence. Katrice began applying for jobs immediately and soon landed a retail sales associate position at a telecommunications company. It would be the start of a years-long hustle that saw her working multiple jobs while completing her studies.

But her work ethic didn’t begin there.
Even as a child, Katrice had a knack for finding creative ways to achieve what she wanted. When she realized her parents couldn’t afford items like American Girl dolls—luxuries many of her peers enjoyed—she didn’t dwell on what she lacked. Instead, she started saving money from birthday gifts and helping her mom sell Avon products. At just 14, she launched her own photography business in 2014, booking clients for portraits and events.

Her parents were right by her side—offering rides, encouragement, and eventually even gifting her a used vehicle so she could grow her business more independently. That kind of support made all the difference, reinforcing her confidence and drive.

After attending St. Patrick’s High School in Ottawa, Katrice moved to Toronto to study Business Technology Management at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson). There, she blended her passion for entrepreneurship with an interest in tech. While completing her degree—she worked as a campus tutor, a part-time retail associate, and held full-time internships in her field during the summer. That discipline translated into life after graduation: Katrice built a career in tech and steadily reached major financial milestones.

By the age of 22, in 2022, she became a homeowner, purchasing a multi-generational home with her family to better support her grandmother and build a foundation rooted in care and generational strength. Around the same time, she also achieved an 800+ credit score, a reflection of years of consistent saving and bill payments history.

Katrice’s proudest moment so far? Reaching a place where she no longer feels anxious about money—and can actually enjoy it. Travel has become a meaningful part of her life, something she wasn’t exposed to much growing up. It represents more than just vacation; it’s a symbol of the freedom and possibility she’s worked hard to create.

She’s also committed to making sure others, especially those from similar backgrounds, know that financial wellness is within reach. Through her platform, Katrice Justice, she shares financial education in the form of relatable, transparent content—some of which has garnered over 600,000 views. She speaks openly about money, mistakes, and strategy, and leads workshops at institutions like Carleton University and the University of Ottawa. In April 2025, her efforts were formally recognized when she received the Young Entrepreneur Award from It’s Time Event Management.

Katrice Justice is more than a financial educator—she’s a builder. A builder of knowledge, confidence, and opportunity. And she’s just getting started.
