JETOUR Auto Malaysia has announced that they have officially started local assembly operations for its  SUV models, the JETOUR Dashing and the VT9, over at at their Malaysian assembly partners, Berjaya Assembly Sdn. Bhd. (B-Assembly) facility in Tampoi, Johor. It  marks a step forward the China brand’s localisation strategy to take advantage of the current tax and pricing structure as well as ensuring the brand’s long-term commitment to the Malaysian automotive market.

The local assembly operation is housed within B-Assembly’s existing 640,000 sq. ft. facility and it supported by a dedicated workforce of more than 100 personnel. JETOUR’s local assembly initiative aligns with Malaysia’s automotive ambitions by increasing localisation, creating skilled employment opportunities, and fostering deeper integration within the local supply chain. Of course, it also allows more competitive pricing if done correctly, taking advantage of the tax breaks that are given by the Malaysian government to companies assembling cars locally.

“This important milestone reflects our strong confidence in Malaysia as a strategic market for JETOUR. The local assembly of the Dashing and VT9 is not only a production advancement, but also a significant investment in talent, innovation, and the future potential of mobility in the region,” said Mr. Wen Qiangkang, Vice President of JETOUR International.

Mr. Fu Yong, Chief Executive Officer of JETOUR Malaysia has also said,  “With the full launch of local production, we are proud to deliver high-quality vehicles assembled in Malaysia, reflecting our continued commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction. This collaboration with B-Assembly also lays a solid foundation for our broader expansion across the ASEAN region.”

Since the official launch of the first product line in Malaysia 2025, JETOUR has expanded its presence to having more than 20 outlets throughout the country. The local assembly represents a major milestone as the brand accelerates localisation efforts to meet rising demand, improving the delivery timelines, and offering better pricing as well as value to Malaysian customers.

The established facility operated by B-Assembly is equipped with Industry 4.0-ready systems, reflecting both companies’ shared commitment to high manufacturing standards, operational efficiency, and sustainable mobility solutions.

“We are proud to be the local assembly partner (or CKD) for JETOUR in Malaysia. This collaboration reflects our shared belief in the future of Malaysia’s automotive sector and our commitment to contributing to the nation’s industrial development,” said Dato’ Tony Khor, Advisor of B-Assembly.

To date, the plant has produced over 1,000 units, with deliveries of the locally assembled JETOUR Dashing beginning in June 2025, followed by the VT9 shortly thereafter. The Dashing SUV caters to urban lifestyles with its fastback-inspired design and intelligent features, while the VT9 is designed for families and long-distance travellers with its spacious 7-seater layout and smart convenience technologies.

JETOUR has also stated that it plans to invest approximately RM1.4 billion in Malaysia to support the introduction of more local assembly models, with plans to expand exports to neighbouring ASEAN countries. Looking ahead, JETOUR will continue to enrich its lineup of localised models and accelerate its efforts to penetrate the ASEAN market.

What all of this shows is the commitment a company has when it ventures fully into local assembly. Those that are quick to enter into such an arrangement shows the seriousness of the brand entering into a certain market and the investment with local partners, local assembly and the hiring of workers is a good step for the economy overall. It is this type of news that I do like covering as it benefits the people of our nation.
