I attempted to do this without VIDA, and ended up ruining a few things… So, I stopped where I was, got VIDA and downloaded the PDF for center console. I can provide it to anyone who wants it, but I won’t post it here. PM me if you need it.
OK, so took off the front wood trim pieces—the black bezel around the touchscreen and the silver trim are all one piece–crazy, right?
Install was pretty straight forward from what matched the install video. The only thing was that there were leftover plugs in the main power harness for the unit. No idea where these go–they may be applicable for XC models?
Also, my S60 has absolutely no room to stuff it under the center console like they did in the video. Instead, I routed my wires to the glove box, as the unit fits nicely in there. There was a hole on the top right side of the glove box that I could slide the wires through.
And here it is all tidy
On first boot, I got a black screen–nothing. I realized that I had swapped the correct plug for the LVDS cable, so had to reroute and swap those. After that, it was a breeze.
I took a video of switching back between the Sensus and fullscreen module. It is a two finger swipe, but it’s kinda hit or miss. I don’t see it as a huge deal, but if you want a one-and-done, don’t get this unit. It’s not THAT seamless… If you’re connected via CarPlay, you’ll have to disconnect CarPlay via the phone (there’s a slider button in the Bluetooth menu on your iPhone) to be able to get to the box settings/home screen (what you see in the video). Not sure if there is a way to get there without disconnecting CarPlay.

Other than that, everything else is good. I didn’t bother hooking up the USB port, external microphone, or WiFi antenna. It’s not really clear to me if I need any of those things.
So far, my only gripe is that I’m not getting audio coming through via CarPlay. Not sure what the deal is, there is a quite a bit of extra settings on the box but I haven’t figured it out yet.
Overall, other than busting up my passenger side vent (I think I need to buy a new one… Can’t seem to get the fins back into the metal piece–maybe someone has a tip/trick???), the install wasn’t bad. Definitely wish I had the PDF before I started tearing things apart, but hey… next time.
