Hyundai Motor Company’s IONIQ 5 N, the first electric vehicle (EV) to proudly bear the N badge, has been named the ‘Performance Car of the Year’ for 2025 at the prestigious China Car of the Year (China COTY) Awards. This accolade highlights Hyundai’s commitment to innovation and high-performance electric mobility.

A Milestone for Hyundai at China COTY Awards

The China Car of the Year Awards, established in 2012, are recognized as one of the most fair and authoritative automotive awards in China. The selection process involves 48 leading automotive journalists and key opinion leaders (KOLs) who rigorously evaluate the contenders. Awards are presented in seven categories, including the overall ‘Car of the Year’ in China and six additional vehicle-specific categories.

The IONIQ 5 N stood out in the ‘Performance Car of the Year’ category, first earning a spot among the Top 10 Finalists in early November. By November 22, it advanced to the Top 3, competing against renowned names like Lynk & Co and Mercedes-Benz. Ultimately, it secured the win, thanks to its exceptional performance and innovative features, which impressed judges after rigorous test drives of 112 models.
