While I have posted over on the Motoring Malaysia Facebook and Instagram page, I seem to have forgotten to update that PROTON is proud to announce that bookings for the All-New PROTON X50 are now officially being accepted. This happened last weekend, where the company held somewhat of an unveiling ceremony at Setia City Mall. Themed “All-New PROTON X50: READY TO ROAR”.
Since its debut in 2020, the PROTON X50 has redefined the SUV segment in Malaysia, with over 140,000 units sold, positioning it as the nation’s best-selling B-segment SUV for five consecutive years. The X50 was developed together with its joint venture partner Geely, who sell it as the Binyue and Coolray overseas, the X50 is truly a global product with over 1.2 million combined sales across 51 nations.
So what’s new in this majorly facelifted and re-engineered PROTON X50 that PROTON say is All New?
Well, a bold new front and rear end design, upgraded ADAS Level 2, and a next-gen HD quality 14.6-inch infotainment system—now featuring the world’s first Bahasa Melayu voice recognition for a uniquely local driving experience as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay from the outset (unlike previous recent launches).
Powered by a new i-GT 1.5 TD engine which now features four instead of three cylinders and 7-speed DCT, it delivers 133 kW and 290 Nm, accelerating from 0–100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds—0.3 seconds faster than the previous model. With a 4.7% boost in fuel efficiency, the All-New PROTON X50 sets a new benchmark in performance, tech, and economy.
Offered in three dynamic variants – Executive, Premium, and Flagship – the SUV has been designed to cater to evolving lifestyle needs while reinforcing PROTON’s commitment to intelligent mobility.
According to PROTON, the overall new add-on features are valued at more than RM10,000. Hopefully the price of the popular SUV will remain the same. Oh, the launch of the X50 is close from what I am made aware of. So the only thing we do not know is the price as everything has already been laid bare to the media.
