Wanted to introduce myself here – I just picked up a silver V60 P* from cars&bids earlier this month – this is my dream car in my dream spec, so I am very happy to be here and begin this process with the car and this community. My first Volvo ever, but not my first wagon or quirky car for that matter. Coming from a Jaguar XF-S Sportbrake, and before that a B6 S4 Avant, Passat 3.6 4mo, and MKIV Jetta Wagon. We sold our jaguar before we knew about our growing family, so we wanted to get back into a wagon, this came up on C&B 3 weeks ago and I took the chance and won the auction. So here I am!
Anyway – pretty sure this is my car, I am now owner #3 of this silver beauty, allegedly 1/24 in the color.
My invite is pending for the Polestar Owners FB group – it has been for weeks, anyone know the admin on there? Other than that group, and here – what are some good places to join or be a part of as I get up to speed on this car?
I have always been hands on with all my cars, and I really enjoy owning something unique, rare, and special. This car so far has proven to be all of those and more. I really am impressed with the driving dynamics and road handling. Am I am not coming from non-driver’s cars. I plan on documenting my process here, and asking/answering questions as best I can.
Some random questions as I get settled here:
1) Is there a dedicated fuse for the lumbar on front seat? My Driver Seat isnt working – figured id start easy with fuse/switch Diag.
2) I have the dreaded front end clicking/grinding at low speed corners. Used a stethoscope with the car up in the air on the bearing (which appears to be wet/greasy) and heard minor grinding. With the car on the ground and moving, I can isolate the noise to the strut assembly by poking the set-to through the wheel spokes. My guess is it is the strut bearing. I have the updated Volvo part# in cart @FCP right now but wanted to ask here before I purchased. Anyone experiencing those to be better than the superseded part? K-Mac is out of budget at the moment. Everything else feels great but low speed corners I get a tug and pull sensation on the SW at times. It might be related to the mount binding and releasing. We drove it home from CO, and did hit a very large pothole on the right side only. Wondering if this did the already weak FoMoCo part in.
3) What is VIDA? I see it on the old invoices from a Volvo shop. Is there a retail/end-user version? Coming from VW/Auids, I am wondering if there is a VCDS/Vagcom equivalent Diag software for volvo owners I should be looking into. I have a decent OBD2 tool for basic stuff.
4) Repair manuals or e-pdf’s. Doe these exist for purchase or download anywhere for the P3/V60/V60P*?
5) Can anyone confirm wear limit/discard thickness of the front brembos is 30mm? I am due for pads but the rotors are about 30.75mm thick, I cant quite make out the etched numbers on the rotors but it looks like 30.00mm, so I am gonna try to get away with just pads until Spring as I have some other stuff I’d like to prioritize.
Thanks to some of the other members on here already that I have pinged/or replied to on the forum. I am about 15days into ownership at this point. So far loving every minute of the car.
