The futuristic Hyundai Staria is set to receive a major update for the 2026 model year—one that includes both visual enhancements and a significant technological leap: the introduction of a fully electric version. Recently, an early prototype of the Hyundai Staria EV was spotted by our colleagues at Baldauf undergoing testing in the Alps, revealing key design and performance features ahead of its official launch.
Hyundai Staria EV: First Glimpse at the All-Electric MPV
With the 2026 facelift, Hyundai will expand the Staria lineup to include a battery-electric vehicle (BEV). The prototype caught in testing features several subtle yet impactful design changes that differentiate it from its internal combustion counterpart.

Modernized Front-End Styling
The facelift brings refinements to the front bumper, a revised grille, and updated headlights. These updates are intended to sharpen the Staria’s futuristic aesthetic and integrate EV-specific design cues. Notably, the charging socketfor the electric model is located on the driver’s side within the grille, cleverly positioned for easy access while maintaining the vehicle’s sleek front design.
Interior Enhancements
Inside the cabin, the updated Staria will feature a completely redesigned steering wheel and a more angular digital instrument cluster, enhancing both the look and functionality of the dashboard. These changes align with Hyundai’s strategy to offer a more high-tech and ergonomic driving experience.
Prototype Charging Hints at Battery Capacity
During testing, the prototype was spotted charging with 54 kWh already filled, which accounted for 72% of the total battery capacity. Based on this figure, it can be estimated that the Hyundai Staria EV will feature a battery pack of approximately 75 kWh when fully charged. This puts it in line with other electric MPVs and vans, offering a practical range ideal for family transport or commercial use.

Expanding Hyundai’s Electric Vehicle Lineup
The introduction of the Staria EV reflects Hyundai’s growing commitment to electrification across all vehicle segments. From the IONIQ series to electric utility models, the brand continues to lead with innovation and sustainability.
Final Thoughts
With a refreshed design, a modernized interior, and a powerful new electric drivetrain, the 2026 Hyundai Staria EV is poised to become a standout in the electric MPV market. The combination of futuristic styling and efficient performance makes it a compelling choice for eco-conscious families and fleet operators alike.
