Hyundai Palisade on runout sale ahead of new-generation model expected next year

Hyundai Palisade on runout sale ahead of new-generation model expected next year

Hyundai’s Palisade is currently discounted as part of the brand’s runout offers, seemingly confirming the new model will arrive at local showrooms sometime in 2025.

South Korean car maker Hyundai is offering a $3000 factory bonus on its Palisade, following reports a next-generation of its large SUV is due to arrive in local showrooms sometime in 2025.

The promotional offer applies to the entire MY24 Palisade range – including petrol and diesel variants – and extends to both new and demonstrator models. The $3000 bonus will be seen as a discount on the purchase price of the SUV before on-road costs.

To sweeten the deal, Hyundai said it will also offer an additional $5000 deposit contribution to customers who choose to use Hyundai Finance in purchasing the vehicle.

The promotional offer only applies to private buyers who order and take delivery of the large SUV between November 25, 2024, and December 31, 2024.

A Hyundai Australia spokesperson told Drive there are 71 Palisade units available for its runout offer, of which, a “majority” of them are Calligraphy diesel variants.

To be deemed eligible for the finance contribution, the finance application must be filed by December 31, 2024, and settled by January 14, 2025.

For context, the promotional offer could see the prices (before on-road costs) on the base-spec Hyundai Palisade Elite slashed to $63,800, while the range-topping Palisade Calligraphy black Ink – in the 2.2L Diesel 4WD variant – can be had from $76,988.

While the new Palisade is yet to be revealed, Drive understands production of the new generation large SUV will commence in the next month, making an Australian arrival likely to begin sometime in 2025.

Hyundai Australia said it “cannot comment or speculate on future product until it has been globally announced”.

As a reminder, South Korean news outlet ETNews said the next-generation Palisade could be replaced by a new 3.5-litre turbo-charged petrol V6 – instead of the 3.8-litre petrol V6 seen on the current model – which could be derived from the engine already used by Hyundai’s luxury arm, Genesis in its models.

Meanwhile the current 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine will reportedly be dropped and replaced with a new 2.5-litre petrol-electric hybrid engine.

Hyundai Australia’s Chief Operating Officer, John Kett, previously said that hybrid powertrains on the next-generation Palisade are a more likely replacement than an alternate option due to the incoming emissions standards.

“A [hybrid] may need to be a replacement [of diesel and petrol engines for the next Palisade] given the restrictions on [the New Vehicle Emissions Standard],” Kett told Drive.

“So I think all the brands are going to have to reinvent it or follow it to some degree. I mean, we can’t say anything about the future powertrains for Palisade, but you’d think it would make sense given the way those regulations are going to hit us, as of next year,” he added.
