This is a guide based on a 2023 V60 T8 (PHEV), therefore oriented towards AAOS/Google system. It should be similar for most other cars of the same generation, though I’m not as familiar with Sensus cars and their equipment.
Disclaimer: If your car is under warranty, the most correct action would probably just take it in to have it diagnosed and documented. I take no responsibility for anything you damage or screw up while trying the below procedures. They worked for me, and I like to avoid the dealer if I can fix something easily myself.
So… One day you hop into your car and you can’t navigate, GPS is lost for signal, or can’t use the Google Assistant, or anything. You might see this this little symbol in the top left of the screen.
If at any point during the first two steps below, your internet/mobile connection is restored, you can cease continuing with the checklist.
STEP 1
Reboot the infotainment system (Google cars only). Probably the easiest step and may fix this issue, along with other bugs. Press and hold the center screen button until it goes completely black (past the screen cleaning mode). It’ll reboot usually in under a minute. Check to see if internet is restored. If not, continue…
STEP 2
Reboot the TCAM with the steps below. Volvo mentions waiting up to 48 hours… which I find to be a bit ridiculous. For some people, this step is the one that works the best, and people who’ve tried it seem to suggest it works right away. I had this problem too, and this step did not fix it.
If this doesn’t work, continue and do all of the following steps.
STEP 3
Disconnect the 12V start battery. Check your manual for your correct location. For some cars like mine, it’s in the trunk, passenger side of the car.
IMPORTANT: If you have a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), make sure to unplug the charger before proceeding with this step.

Use a bone tool or other rigid flat tool (screwdriver can work) and gently pry the top of the cover down and pop out the several clips.
Once it’s released, pull it out and maneuver it away, being mindful of the LED light cable attached to the panel.
Now that the battery is exposed, use a wrench to disconnect the negative (black) terminal and secure it out of the way.
STEP 4
Disconnect the TCAM battery. The TCAM battery on most cars is typically found under the trunk boards, towards the back right side (if you’re standing behind looking towards front of the car). There’s a couple small clips holding the cables to the battery itself. Gently pry them away and disconnect the cable.
STEP 5
Wait! I gave it like 10-15 minutes just sitting depowered like this.
STEP 6
Put it back together in reverse:
-Reconnect the TCAM battery.
-Reconnect the 12V start battery.
Once the car powers back up (takes a couple minutes), your TCAM/connectivity issue should be resolved. I had to do this once many months ago, and it’s been golden ever since. Hope this helps someone!
If this doesn’t work… you may have faulty hardware and I would bite the bullet and take it to the dealer at this point.
If anyone has any suggestions, edits, or other tricks to add, please let me know and I’ll edit them in.
