- Honda Insurance Solutions is a broker that can help find cover for everything from cars to houses.
- A marquee policy option ensures any damage is repaired using only OEM Honda and Acura parts.
Honda’s range of vehicles is so vast it covers most things on wheels and a few that aren’t. But the American arm of the Japanese automaker isn’t content with selling you a car, bike, boat or quad – now it wants to sell you the insurance to go with it as well.

American Honda has launched Honda Insurance Solutions (HIS) to help Honda and Acura buyers across the US secure cover. It’s not an insurance provider, but an agency that is licensed in all 50 states and is powered by insurance broker VIU by HUB.
A Familiar Name in an Unfamiliar Market
In that sense, it’s just a re-packaged version of existing insurance offerings, but the familiarity and trust that comes with the Honda name is sure to appeal to drivers who are suspicious of insurance industry operators and their ever-increasing premiums. Customers can arrange cover for all kinds of vehicles and even their homes.
And HIS also has a secret weapon that might help convince Honda drivers who are sitting on the fence to send their monthly premiums to the new agency. That’s the option of OEM parts coverage, which guarantees any repairs will be carried out exclusively using genuine Honda and Acura parts.
The automaker says this will help protect a car’s value, but personally, we’d take that claim with a pinch of salt. We’re not talking vintage Ferraris here, we’re taking accident-damaged Hondas, and we doubt anyone is really going to be offered thousands less at trade-in time because their car was once repaired with a pattern part rear light cluster rather than an OEM one.
But we can still imagine the OEM thing appealing to hardcore fans and ultra fastidious owners. For everyone else, the appeal of Honda-branded insurance will live or die on how the pricing looks relative to the opposition. The company claims its policies will be “competitive,” and further down the road they’ll also be incredibly convenient.
Future plans include integrating the insurance service into the automaker’s digital vehicle sales platforms. Would you prefer to insure your car through that car’s brand and would you pay extra for the OEM parts coverage? Let us know in the comments.
