Honda Malaysia has announced its sales target for 2025, the company stating that it is targeting to sell 83,000 units this year and strengthen its market presence with a projected 10.6% market share of the total industry volume (TIV).
The sales target for this year, announced at its annual media gathering this evening, is a modest 1.7% increase – or 1,400 units – from the 81,600 units the company shifted in 2024, but it is looking to continue holding on to its number one position in the non-national passenger vehicle segment for a 12th consecutive year.
Outgoing Honda Malaysia MD and CEO Hironobu Yoshimura said that while there will still be challenges in the coming year, the company remains confident that its internal combustion engine and e:HEV technologies will stay relevant in the market, benefitting from infrastructure readiness, consumer preferences and technological advancements.
The company said that over the past year, its e:HEV models have gained significant market traction, enough to account for nearly 30% of the country’s total hybrid vehicle sales in 2024, an increase of two percent from 2023. If anything, the automaker is expecting growth in the adoption of hybrid tech this year as more consumers seek out highly-fuel efficient vehicles in the face of the upcoming rationalisation of RON 95 fuel.
As previously indicated, the company said it will be introducing three new models in 2025, with one already on the ground, this being the Civic facelift that was unveiled in January. The e:N1 electric vehicle is also set to make its way in, as announced when the EV was previewed at the 2024 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) last December.
While its identity was not disclosed, the third model should be the HR-V facelift, which is well due in. Beyond this, the company also mentioned its three-year plan to introduce three new full electric models to the Malaysian market by 2027, but did not provide anything beyond that outline.
In addition to enhancing its product offerings, HM said it will continue to improve its sales and after-sales services, which at present is available through its comprehensive network of 104 dealerships across the country.
