Karma believes that EREV powertrains are “ideally suited to the marketplace”, and has delayed the market launch of its EVs

- The new Karma Amaris is the coupe version of the upcoming Gyesera sedan.
- The model will enter production next year, with an EREV powertrain.
- The launch of the fully electric Kaveya has been pushed back to 2027.
Karma Automotive has unveiled its first two-door coupe, the Amaris, which is set to hit production in Q4 2026. Built on the same platform as the upcoming Gyesera sedan, the Amaris features Karma’s EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) powertrain.
The Amaris borrows more than a few styling details from the Gyesera, particularly around the front and rear ends, but its profile stands apart. With two massive “swan doors” that pivot upwards and an “Americana-inspired” side exhaust, it certainly makes a statement.

The dash-to-axle ratio, sculpted lines, and muscular fenders have a subtle nod to Aston Martin’s design language, giving the coupe a refined yet aggressive presence.
At the back, the sloping roofline leads to an aggressive tail with an Amaris-specific design for the rear bumper. The coupe rides on a new set of 22-inch forged aluminum wheels which Karma calls “Constellation”. The bodywork is made of carbon fiber and aluminum.
Powertrain & Performance
The Amaris is powered by an EREV powertrain, which includes a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine that acts as a generator. Karma hasn’t disclosed too many details, but it did mention that this engine is larger than the 1.5-liter three-cylinder found in the Karma Revero.
In terms of performance, the Amaris is no slouch. It will accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 3.5 seconds, topping out at 165 mph (266 km/h).
Karma Amaris
As you might have guessed from its design, the Karma Amaris rides on the same aluminum spaceframe architecture of the upcoming Gyesera sedan. For context, the Gyesera is essentially a major update to the Revero, which itself is a modern take on the original Fisker Karma from 2011.
Although Karma initially introduced the Gyesera as a fully electric vehicle, they’ve since had a change of heart. The company has decided to equip it with an EREV powertrain and give it a fresh look for a 2025 release. This pivot reflects broader shifts in consumer demand for electric vehicles, particularly in the premium and ultra-luxury segments.

The same trend is affecting Karma’s other projects. The fully electric Kaveya flagship coupe, initially slated for a 2026 release, has been pushed back to 2027. Meanwhile, the Ivara GT-UV crossover, a potential EV or PHEV, will debut in the same year, expanding Karma’s lineup.
Marques McCammon, President of Karma Automotive, commented: “Karma Automotive remains at the forefront of EREV powertrains, and believes now more than ever that the freedom of refueling either with gasoline or electricity is ideally suited to the marketplace. With our gorgeous Amaris 2-door coupe and soon-to-be-revealed Gyesera 4-door, we’re building a range of vehicles that will deliver exceptional EV torque and performance paired with worry-free cruising range, a combination that only EREV can deliver.”
