Gordon Murray Automotive is rewriting the playbook for ultra‑low‑volume hypercars, and the S1 LM might just be its boldest statement yet. It’s the first creation by the newly launched Special Vehicles division, arriving alongside the Le Mans GTR as one of the most talked‑about debuts at Monterey Car Week.
Built on the chassis of the T.50, the S1 LM carries forward the legendary design ethos of the original Le Mans‑winning F1 GTR. It features nods to that iconic racing machine—think a roof‑mounted intake and a center quad exhaust—enhanced with modern touches like a split rear wing. In certain lights and angles, it could trick you into thinking you’re looking at the classic race car reborn.
But this is no nostalgic rerun. GMA designed the S1 LM as a track first car, with a hardened suspension setup and a securely mounted engine to maximize performance. Pair that with a prominent front splitter, sweeping rear wing, and massive diffuser, and you’ve got serious downforce in a beautifully sculpted package.
Performance lives up to the legend. Under the hood sits a roaring, naturally aspirated V‑12 mated to a six‑speed manual. Bored out to 4.3 liters, it cranks out an estimated 690 horsepower—an analog powerhouse in an increasingly digital world.
Only five of these will be made. All are destined for one dedicated customer, for an undisclosed price. The exclusivity is so high you might imagine the buyer starting their own private racing series to drive them all head-to-head. Deliveries start in 2026. And if you think this is the end of the line, think again—GMA’s already hinting at more “few‑offs” to come.
As CEO Phil Lee puts it, Gordon Murray Group lives by driving perfection, lightweight engineering, artistic design, and exclusivity. The Special Vehicles arm, he says, lets GMA bring the dreams of passionate customers to life through bespoke automotive art.
In an era defined by hybrids and digital dashboards the S1 LM stands out with raw simplicity, driver‑first purity, and a design that bridges decades of racing heritage.
