First of all some pictures of my baby:
When I got the car it had around 140.000 km (87k mi) on the clock and it’s now sitting at 147.500 km (91.6k mi). This is all I did to the car in that time. I’ll put the KMs to have a “timeline of events”
142.177 – Replaced the battery, old one was leaking.
142.177 – Replaced oil and filters (5w30 Motul 8100 eco-nergy, which is the one with the ACEA A5/B5 spec), as well as transmission fluid (I’m using Liqui Moly TopTec 1800 which is AW-1 compliant) since it was never done on the car and I started feeling poor peformance from the gearbox: it got really extreme jolts and sometimes when it was cold, it felt like the car had no clutch (rpms went up and the car barely moved). After the car came back from the service, the “no clutch” issue was gone and a re-learn thru OBD solved the jolt issues like a magic trick.
142.900 – Brake booster pump was leaking like crazy (which I serviced with the OEM+ IPD viton kit) and that fixed that issue (it still leaks a tiny bit of oil, but from somewhere else I have yet to find)
143.920 – Replaced the Fuel Pressure Sensor (the car started giving me random CEL that went out after a while, they all had code P0193, which pointed me to the sensor) bought the OE bosch one, and it solved the issue.
147.257 – Replaced all four brake discs and pads with genuine Volvo ones ($2000 in parts :O) as well as the PCV Oil Trap. Did another transmission fluid replacement, since the car was starting to have a little bit of a jolt again (nowhere close to how it was before) and also on some days it had the issue where the RPMs will go up and the car would barely move, since we were there and the brake booster pump was leaking, I did an entire engine oil, and filter change, just in case.
After it came back from the workshop, again the issue was gone and a scan and re-learn solved the transmission jolts. I hope it doesn’t come back again after a couple thousand kilometers!
What I need to ask now is:
– Since I got the car I’ve been having issues with the little hose that goes out from the PCV into the intake tube. When I bought it it was unplugged from the intake side and broken, found a replacement hose which was a little bit longer in my box of “little craps you should have probably thrown away but you know they will be of use in the future”🤣 and that solved the issue, but recently when I got the PCV changed, the hose was replaced with the one that came with the PCV, and after I got back the car, and driving for a little bit, I open the hood and the hose is out again!. I got it in place with a ratchet, tightening it properly, but I found out today that not only it came out, but it broke the plastic tube where it connects to the intake. I guess I might have over tightened it 🤦♂️
My solution is (first try to repair the plastic tube from the intake) and then try to find a longer hose.
I saw the intake tube has a bit of “movement” maybe it´s supposed to clip somewhere so it stays closer to the oil trap?
– It’s been doing high temperatures here (around 34C) and I noticed a week ago that after turning off the car the fan stayed on, on what I think was max speed (a lot of noise!). I waited for a minute or two and the fan was still on. Turned on the car, and then off, and the fan went off. Then I have been using the car as normal, and it never happened again, until today. I did a bit of a driving (again, very hot day) and the fan stayed on after I turned off the car. I was tempted to leave it (because I suppose it should go off after a while) but instead, since I had to go away from the car, I started the engine, then turned it off, and the fan turned off. I know that on some cars the fan stays on after turning off the car, but I don’t know how much time it should be running, or if I have an issue with the fan control module.
– I need to replace the weatherstrip on the driver door, as well as the one that goes under the door at the sill. Does anyone knows what that one is even called, which # is that part, or where can I find it on the parts catalog?
