Having kicked off its GoEV electric car sharing programme in the Klang Valley in 2021, GoCar is now expanding its service way down south in Johor Bahru. The offering is part of a collaboration with Yinson GreenTech’s subsidiary drivEV, a leasing partner and mobility solutions provider specialising in EVs.
The joint venture sees GoCar offering the GAC Aion Y Plus and GWM Ora Good Cat at certain locations in the city, providing a zero-carbon mobility option both to local residents and visitors coming from Singapore.
The company is also partnering with Handel Indah to offer connections to the latter’s electric Causeway Bay buses, thanks to cars being located at Toppen Shopping Centre and other strategic locations near major bus drop-off points.
“The success of our EV sharing fleet in Klang Valley has proven that zero-emission mobility is not just a vision but a practical and scalable solution for modern urban transport,” said GoCar Malaysia CEO Wong Hoe Mun. “By expanding this initiative to Johor Bahru, in collaboration with drivEV, we are taking another significant step toward reducing carbon footprints and promoting sustainable travel.”
drivEV managing director Kelvin Soon added: “This partnership with GoCar Malaysia exemplifies our commitment to making sustainable mobility more accessible and practical. By integrating electric cars into key locations in Johor Bahru, we are creating seamless, eco-friendly travel solutions for residents and visitors alike. With this, we strive to enable commuters to embrace socially responsible alternatives while benefiting from convenient and sustainable transportation options.”
Car sharing rates in JB start from RM24.90 per hour to RM199 per day for the Good Cat and from RM27.90 to RM279 per day for the Aion Y Plus. GoCar is also offering a launch promotion allowing users to book the Aion Y Plus at an exclusive rate of RM100 for five hours (excluding CDW, Flex, and SST) using the code “JBJOLT”.
