Currently in a 1LE, curious on your thoughts on both tracking and street driving between that and the M2?

I had a 2018 SS1LE Tremec M6 and did over 50 track days with that. Only changed oil, pads and tires. Never had a single issue. On paper it has the same power as the G87 (455HP vs 453HP), but more torque.
The SS1LE is a phenomenal track car fully stock and with just a simple alignment with more camber. The v8 sounds incredible.
On the street however, it’s a bit rough with poor visibility, a bit hard riding, and when I occasionally tried to put the kids in the back there was always a fight as no one wanted to ride there
The M2 is much, much better street car. I have had 4 ppl on it multiple times going to dinner and such, no one complains. There is plenty of storage a place for your phone, etc.
On track, the M2 gets to slightly higher top speeds on the straights, but it is slower mid corner. Net result is that for example at Lime Rock (1 min track) it is 1-1.5 sec slower stock for stock. I think the entire gap closes with tires (1LE GYSC3 are great).
The G87 rear end is ALWAYS moving – makes it more fun, but a bit less confidence inspiring. The 1LE is planted all the time – jumping over curbs, mid corner undulations, etc will not disrupt it. G87 you need sometime to wait for the undulation before going full throttle.
Overall I enjoy the G87 much more. It has much more bandwidth. It can cruise relaxed, can hilariously hang the tail out on an autocross or do big track runs. It’s the total package for a fun car.
P.S. The 1LE and the G87 were the *only* street cars I ever drove on track that did not have thermal issues. I consider them arrive and drive hard cars. So I’m glad Savage Geese pointed it out.
I think you will love the G87 if you change. But you will also miss the 1LE and the V8 sounds Same old dilema…do you go for the hot party redhead or the classy sweet blonde. Either way, stay away from the skanky brunette (Mustang).
