Listen to host Eric Dye & guest Grant Stahla discuss the following:
(Host Eric Dye): Tell me about the usage and capacity for the 4 Stall Restroom Trailer to get things underway here today.
(Guest Grant Stahla): Yeah, you bet. Four-stall restroom trailers are one of our most popular trailers, just following right behind the 2 stall. The usage guidelines. So for an event, you’re gonna want one stall for about every 45 or so. I’m sorry, 75 people. So that’s gonna be a four stall restroom. Trailers gonna support up to 300 people for your event. That’s kind of a rough guideline. If you have a lot of alcohol at your event, then you might want to scale that number down to one stall per fifty people, which would be 200 people. It’s what q 4 stall could support, but in general a 4 stall can support 300 people for an event. Typically that’s going to be an event up to six hours if it goes over six hours, then you’re going to want to scale that number back down. But other numbers for commercial application like for a job site or construction? You’re gonna want one stall per 15 people. So a 4 stall could support up to 60 people per day at a job site. And that’s gonna go up or down based off of just how many shifts you have if people are working throughout the night? But if that’s a typical 8 hour shift, you’re gonna have about 1 stall per 15 workers. Or for the four stall restroom trailer, you’re going to be able to support about 60 people.
(Host Eric Dye): Grant, how do companies typically determine how many restroom stalls they’ll need for events or job sites?
(Guest Grant Stahla): Yeah, a lot of times they’ll just call or e-mail in and and give us their situation and we’re gonna go off of those those rough numbers. And then of course, we’re gonna ask them different questions. Like anything, out of the normal for their application or want to have if it’s more of an upscale event and they wanna have less people per stall we’ll help them adjust accordingly. But yeah, for that four stall, a lot of times, we’re just we’re bringing those two events anywhere from as little as 100 people, you know, up to about 350 people, Max.
(Host Eric Dye): Do you have any Real-world use cases for the 4-Stall Restroom Trailers?
(Guest Grant Stahla) : Yeah, absolutely. We use them a lot. It’s they’re gonna be used at a lot of different events. There seems to be a lot of events where you’re gonna have a couple 100 people. We support in Omaha, NE. We’ll do the College World Series and we’ll have lots of different restroom trailers out at different locations and tailgates. Whether maybe it’s a bank sponsoring tailgate and they’re bringing all of their top customers and employees to the tailgate will bring a restroom trailer. Maybe it’s a commercial application where you have a construction site. They’re building a data center or you’re building a big construction project where you have sort of a smaller grouping of people in one section. You’re not supporting all the workers, but maybe it’s a smaller electrical subcontractor is gonna get a four-star restroom trailer for their employees specifically. Or maybe it’s a group of office trailers together that need a four-star restroom trailer and supporting all the people in those office trailers. So there’s it’s kind of the beginning of that medium restroom trailer size for all sorts of events and commercial applications. Disaster relief you’re gonna generally get a bigger trailer. But if you have a smaller man camp, or maybe just a remote facility, you might get a four-star restroom trailer for the smallest of the disaster relief uses. So those are some of the event use cases and commercial and disaster use cases four-stall, restroom trailer.
(Host Eric Dye) : Could you share a few examples of industries or specific scenarios where your restroom trailers are most commonly used?
(Guest Grant Stahla) Yeah. A lot of it’s gonna be commercial and event. Disaster relief is some of it. Sometimes it’s facility maintenance. If a building has their water go out like say it’s an Advance Auto Parts or it’s a small neighborhood grocery store, they bring a restroom trailer, typically a four-stall restroom trailer and put it out in front of the store to support the customers and employees to make it so that they could keep their their building open while they had some some water issues. Yeah, people love 4 stall restroom trailers at events. It’s just a great amount of stalls. I’ll get to it here in a second, but the sizing is perfect as well, where you can you can bring it to a location with a normal pickup truck and it doesn’t take up too much room, so those are some of the use cases for that four-stall.
(Host Eric Dye) : Tell me about the cost of renting a 4-Stall Restroom Trailer and of purchasing one new.
(Guest Grant Stahla) : Yeah, you bet. So new, typically, it’s gonna be about $60,000 for a new four-stall restroom trailer. A commercial 28 day rate is about $6400. So that’s if you needed to rent a four-stall restroom trailer just for one month. You’re gonna pay about $6400 if you end up renting it longer, say, between two and five months, your monthly rate’s gonna be $4,300. So that’s gonna drop a lot from $6400 to $4300. And then if you rent it for six months or more, you’re going to be looking at about $4000 for six months or more pricing per month? And then if you get that year and a half or 18 months plus, you’re going to be looking at about $3400 per month. So as you can see, you can buy them new for about $60,000. And if you if you rent it for a year and a half, you’re at $3400 event pricing, you’re gonna be looking at between $1700 and $2400 for an event. And what that looks like is you’ll get it delivered usually on a Thursday or Friday, and then it’s gonna be there over the weekend. And then the company will typically pick it up Sunday, Monday or Tuesday.
(Host Eric Dye) : Grant, what factors influence whether a client choosing to rent versus purchasing restroom trailers?
(Guest Grant Stahla) : Yeah. No, that’s a really good question. As I was saying with the commercial pricing, that’s about $3400 per month for that 18 month pricing. That actually ends up being $61,000 and the new purchase price is about $60,000, so your year and a half long rental is about the same price as purchasing one new, so I would say, if you’re looking to rent two years or more, you might look into purchasing a restroom trailer. Of course, that’s if you want to. If you’re able to manage maintenance, restocking, repair, and the actual physical locations in storage before and after it’s used. Of course, that’s why people choose rental companies because like we at Stahla Services can handle all the electrical and plumbing and HVAC problems that come up and waste tank problems that come up and we can help facilitate the cleaning and restocking. So I would say if 99% of the time, people that call us are looking to rent. If you have a project that’s going on for two years or more, and you really enjoy owning your equipment, then you might look at purchasing 1.
(Host Eric Dye) : What kind of specifications does the 4-Stall Restroom Trailer have?
(Guest Grant Stahla) : Absolutely. So typically with a 4 stall you’re going to have four individual rooms, so you’re going to have 4 exterior doors. And then there’s going to be a mechanical room door on the back that’s going to have all the electrical and plumbing inside of it. There’s some 4 stalls that have two big rooms where there’s a men’s room and a women’s room. And in that, you’re going to have the women’s side which will have two toilets and the men’s will typically have one urinal and one toilet, so it kind of just depends on if you want those private entrances at Stahla Services, we just have four individual room private, four-stall restroom trailers. The length of the four-stall restroom trailer is about 14 1/2 feet, so 14 foot 6 inches and then the length with the tongue is 19 feet. The width is 6 1/2 feet or 6 foot 6 inches and then with the steps down the width is 9 feet 3 inches. The height, just the box of the trailer is 10 feet 3 inches and then the height with the air conditioner unit to the top of that A/C unit is 11 foot 4 inches. The fresh water tank is 200 gallons. Wastewater tank is 450 gallons. The empty weight of the trailer with no liquids in it is 5300 lbs and then the gross combined vehicle weight rating – total weight rating that the axle can handle is 7000 lbs. So those are some of the quick specs of that trailer.
(Host Eric Dye) : What are some key features or specifications clients often inquire about when selecting restroom trailers especially the 4 stall restroom trailer?
(Guest Grant Stahla) : You bet, yeah. So that kind of goes to how that the stall layout is. So those four individual rooms, we found that to be most popular. So that’s typically what we at Stahla Services go by. They’ll ask questions around the power and water specifics so I’ll go into that here in a second and then just the amount of uses so up to about 300 uses for an event and being able to support up to 60 people. For a commercial application, those are really some of the most popular questions for the four stall restroom trailer.
(Host Eric Dye) : How about helpful plumbing, electrical and transportation specifics?
(Guest Grant Stahla) : Yeah, you bet. So this is an important part because the restroom trailers are a self-contained unit, so what you bring with it is kind of what you’re able to get out of it with plumbing like I said, the fresh water tanks is 200 gallons. So that means if you are getting it for a wedding and you don’t have a water spigot, or maybe it’s out in the middle of a farm field, you can bring 200 gallons of fresh water in your truck and we at Stahla Services would fill that tank and then there’s pumps inside the trailer to be able to support that. The event with fresh water, the wastewater tanks 450 gallons. So that’s gonna be plenty of room for that 200 gallons of fresh water to be able to go. So with the 450 gallon wastewater tank, that’s a great size for that four stall restroom trailer with the electrical. The electrical systems on this trailer is really neat because they’re configured in a way that it’s 15 amps, 110 volts connections so you can plug them in at any house connection. You’re gonna typically need two connections in the summer, and then three or four connections to that 110 Volt, 15 amp in the winter. The summer, the main draw of that powers the air conditioning unit. In the winter, the main draw of the power is the electric wall heaters that are inside of each stall. So you’re going to have 4 electric wall heaters in each of the four stalls, and then you’re going to have another one in the mechanical room. So you’ll be supporting four or five electric wall heaters there on that power, and that’s why you’re going to need those three or four connections to power. For transport and setup this trailer weighs about 5300 lbs, so you’re gonna want at least a three quarter ton pickup to haul it. And it’s a two and five sixteenths ball and then you’re gonna have your standard towing connection safety chain connections in seven way plug for connecting to it and then it’s about 19 feet long when you’re hauling it. So that’s, I would say that’s a pretty medium sized trailer that you’re hauling. So not too big or not too small. It’s a really nice trailer to be able to pull, but those are some of the overview of plumbing, electrical and transport and just just some of those extra details and final details of everything you would need to know about in regards to the four stall restroom trailer.
