Ahead of its world premiere at the Munich Auto Show in September 2025, Mercedes has revealed the first official details of the Mercedes GLC EV during a test drive conducted by Mercedes CEO, Ola Källenius.

Mercedes CEO Ola Källenius test drove the new all-electric Mercedes GLC EV for the first time and announced that the model will be unveiled globally at the Munich Auto Show on September 7.

The Mercedes GLC EV will be built on the new MB.EA platform, but it will feature the Airmatic air suspension borrowed from the S-Class limousine. This feature will be available as part of the Agility & Comfort package, which also includes all-wheel steering with a 4.5-degree steering angle. The adoption of the S-Class suspension was possible because the S-Class and the GLC EV have a comparable weight.

Mercedes has also released the first size specifications of the new GLC EV. Its wheelbase of 2,968 mm is 80 mm longer than that of the internal combustion version, giving rear passengers more legroom. Additionally, the standard trunk volume of 570 liters is only 30 liters less than the combustion engine version, but with the rear seats folded, the volume increases to 1,740 liters—100 liters more than the GLC 200.

Moreover, the Mercedes GLC EV is expected to have the most spacious frunk (front trunk) in the auto industry, with a capacity of 128 liters, which can be opened via a touchscreen control from the interior.

The new MB.EA platform uses 800V technology, allowing the Mercedes GLC EV to achieve a charging capacity of up to 320 kW. According to Mercedes, just 10 minutes of charging will provide enough energy for 260 km of driving. Unlike the Mercedes CLA, which cannot charge at 400V stations, the GLC EV will also support charging at 400V stations, thanks to a built-in DC converter.

Mercedes also considered users who want to use the SUV for towing trailers or caravans—the GLC EV will be capable of towing loads up to 2,400 kg.

For now, Mercedes hasn’t disclosed many details about the interior, only stating that it will feature the new floating MBUX Hyperscreen, and the multimedia system will run on the in-house developed MB.OS software. In the official images released by Mercedes during Ola Källenius’s test drive, the car is heavily camouflaged, but slim headlights, a massive and nearly vertical front grille, a generous wheelbase, short overhangs, and a very wide rear pillar can be observed.
