Ferrari Beverly Hills Shows Off A Euro-Spec 365 GTB/4 ‘Daytona’ Inspired by The Apollo 11 Moon Landing

This Ferrari ‘Daytona’ takes shape as a rolling piece of automotive and cultural history.

The 1960s were a wild, transformative decade that shook up the world in just about every way—culture, politics, music, and design were all redefined, leaving a lasting impact we still feel today. This proved to be even more true for the automotive world, as some of the world’s most recognized cars were born during this era, especially in the city of Maranello with Enzo Ferrari and his team. Paving the way for future four-wheel icons like the 288 GTO, F40, F50, and Enzo, the coveted Ferrari 365 GTB/4 aimed to wrap up the cultural decade by combining the Italian marque’s historic racing pedigree with the functionality of a front-engine grand tourer. Commonly referred to as the “Daytona,” the 365 GTB/4 originated its famous nickname from Ferrari’s 1-2-3 finish at the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona.

Today, the team at Ferrari Beverly Hills is pleased to showcase a truly exceptional 1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 ‘Daytona’ with an even more interesting backstory behind its build. Chassis #12641 began life as an early-production, European-spec 1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 configured in an ultra-rare Biano Luna finish from the factory. Recognized as a true one-of-one example in a sea of Rosso, Nero, Blu, and Argento examples, this rare metallic white paint shade was created to honor one of the world’s most historic moments, the Apollo 11 moon landing. The 365 GTB/4’s elongated body style beautifully bears itself as a blank canvas for non-traditional Ferrari colors, adding to both the allure and rarity of an increasingly valued collector-grade Ferrari.

Inside, the sophisticated styling continues with a cabin layered in rich, dark brown leather with contrasting black leather highlights. Again, shying away from its traditional track-inspired look and feel, this 365 GTB/4 was originally built with a focus on it being a true driver’s car for someone with serious class. From its famous Daytona-style seats to the hand-made wood grain steering wheel, the 365 GTB/4 represents an era built around quality and craftsmanship while determined to cross the finish line ahead of its competition.

Under the long, sculpted hood of the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 ‘Daytona’ sits a 4.4L Colombo V12, delivering 352 horsepower through a five-speed transaxle gearbox. The Daytona’s front-engine, rear-drive layout, paired with its limited-slip differential, helped it achieve a top speed near 174 mph, making it one of the fastest road cars of its era. This example retains its matching-numbers engine, gearbox, and differential. Expertly restored by Bacchelli & Villa to platinum-winning standards at The Cavallino Classic, it combines originality with concours-level quality. Certified by Ferrari Classiche, Ferrari Beverly Hills is proud to present this rare and historically significant Daytona.
