F1 Drivers’ Personal Car Collections

F1 Drivers’ Personal Car Collections

Posted on June 28, 2025 By rehan.rafique No Comments on F1 Drivers’ Personal Car Collections

A few weeks ago we ran an article that outlined the incredible car collection of Lando Norris (link here). It seems the young Brit isn’t the only one who enjoys a good/classic road car. These speed kings just casually collect amazing cars that change what a “dream garage” even means. Forget boring daily cars – though some of them do own regular cars – the real show is in the custom-built hypercars, the loud old cars, and the pure, no-apologies luxury that only a multi-million-dollar F1 deal can get you. Get ready, car fans, for a look into the cool, sometimes surprising, and definitely show-off world of F1 drivers’ personal car collections.

Lewis Hamilton

The seven-time world champion certainly has a collection befitting his legendary status. While he has a known affinity for electric cars in his daily life for sustainability reasons (often spotted in a Mercedes EQC), his garage is also home to some of the most sought-after hypercars and classics. Among his treasures are two Ferrari LaFerraris (a coupe and an Aperta), despite his long tenure with Mercedes. He also owns a McLaren P1, a nod to his early F1 career, and fittingly, a Mercedes-AMG One, a road-legal hypercar with an F1-derived engine. For a touch of classic American muscle, Hamilton boasts a 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 and a 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. In this video he also says he has his eye on a Ferrari F80.

Charles Leclerc

As a Ferrari driver, it’s no surprise that Charles Leclerc’s collection leans heavily towards Prancing Horses. He’s often seen around Monaco in a variety of Ferraris, including a Ferrari 488 Pista, a Ferrari Daytona SP3 (customised for him in black with a Monaco flag strip), and a Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale. In this video he talks about is Ferrari F80. He also reportedly owns a classic Ferrari 275. Beyond Maranello, his garage includes a Bugatti Chiron and a McLaren GT, showcasing a diverse taste in high-performance machinery. He even uses a Ferrari Purosangue as a daily driver.

Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen, has a car collection that reflects his competitive spirit. While driving for Red Bull, which has strong ties with Aston Martin, his garage includes an Aston Martin Valkyrie, a hypercar co-designed by F1 legend Adrian Newey.  He’s also owned other Aston Martins like a DBS Superleggera and a Vantage. Interestingly, despite the on-track rivalry, Verstappen previously owned a Mercedes-AMG C63S. His collection also features a Ferrari Monza SP2 and a Ferrari 488 Pista, proving that team loyalties don’t always extend to personal car choices. For more practical (but still impressive) daily use, he’s also had a Honda Civic Type R and an ABT Audi RS6 Legacy Edition.

Fernando Alonso

A seasoned veteran with a career spanning decades, Fernando Alonso’s car collection is a testament to his enduring passion for automobiles. He’s known to own a LaFerrari finished in a slick matte black. Reflecting his current team, he has an Aston Martin Valkyrie and an even more exclusive Aston Martin Valiant, which was created in collaboration with him. His past cars also include a Ferrari Enzo (which he later sold), a Maserati GranCabrio, and a Mercedes SLR McLaren 722 Edition, a unique car from his previous stint at McLaren.

George Russell

George Russell, currently driving for Mercedes, unsurprisingly has a garage filled with cars from the German marque. His pride and joy is a personalised Mercedes-AMG One, a road-legal hypercar with an actual F1 engine, adorned with his racing number 63. He also possesses a range of other Mercedes models, including a G-Wagon G63, a C63S sedan, an SL63, a GTS Coupe, and a classic 1970 280 SL, showcasing his appreciation for both modern and vintage Mercedes engineering.

Yuki Tsunoda

Yuki Tsunoda, often showcases his loyalty to Honda, the engine supplier for his team. He’s been seen arriving at circuits in a Honda Civic Type R. This practical yet sporty choice highlights his down-to-earth side, but also his appreciation for a well-engineered driver’s car. He also notably performed drifts in a classic Honda S2000 at an F1 75th-anniversary event, proving his enjoyment of pure driving experiences. While his collection may be more focused on Japanese performance, his association with Red Bull’s motorsport programs also provides him with opportunities to drive other high-performance vehicles, such as the Honda NSX GT3 Evo on the Nürburgring.

Carlos Sainz

Carlos Sainz, known as “Smooth Operator,” has a car collection that has evolved alongside his F1 career. Famously, his first car was a humble Volkswagen Golf GTI, a gift from his father at 18, which he surprisingly still used even early in his F1 career. His time at McLaren saw him behind the wheel of high-performance British machines like the McLaren 720S and a McLaren 600LT Spider.
During his time with Ferrari, his collection naturally boasted several Prancing Horses, including a Ferrari Portofino, a Ferrari Roma Spider, and a Ferrari Purosangue for daily duties. The crown jewel of his garage, and reportedly the first car he bought for himself, is a fully customized Ferrari 812 Competizione, a V12-powered hypercar that perfectly encapsulates his passion for driving. Despite his impressive collection, Sainz has expressed a preference for keeping his more extravagant cars out of the public eye to avoid drawing too much attention.
