The King of the Hill returns with the most powerful V8 ever produced in America and its the fastest Corvette ever with an official top speed of 233 mph! The ZR1 features a 5.5L twin-turbocharged DOHC flat-plane crank V8 which delivers 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque! Advanced aerodynamics play a huge role in the Corvette ZR1 as engineers developed its carbon fiber aero package to generate over 1,200 pounds of downforce at high speed. A new flow-thru front hood design feeds a massive amount of cool air directly to the radiator that cools the twin turbo intercoolers while new inlets on the rear of the car capture the air as it passes by for cooling the rear brakes while also providing airflow to the engine compartment. Even the new split rear window was designed with functional engine cooling in mind as the vented design allows hot air to escape the engine bay.

To handle the power of the LT7, Chevrolet strengthened key internal engine components, while also hardening the input shafts and reworking the lubrication system for the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission which they say will prevent overheating during sustained high-speed driving. To put the rubber to road, engineers utilize a number of software tricks that reduces turbo lag to almost zero, while also torque-limiting the first two gears so you’ll do more than just sit and spin the tires from a dead stop.

Speaking of rubber, the ZTK Performance Package upgrades the Michelins to the track-ready Pilot Sport Cup 2Rs while the new 10-piston Alcon Carbon Ceramic Brakes developed for the ZR1/ZR1X are now the largest ever offered on the Corvette. Chevrolet claims the ZR1 can go 80 to 200 mph and back 22% quicker than the previous generation’s ZR1.

Chip Miller and his good friend Bill Miller first hosted a Corvette show in Carlisle, PA over 40 years and today Corvettes at Carlisle is the largest all-Corvette show in the world. Sadly, we lost Chip Miller in March 2004 due to Amyloidosis, a little-known disease that is caused when amyloid proteins deposit and accumulate in the body’s organs and tissue. Each year 3,000 cases of Amyloidosis are diagnosed in the United States, and it’s treatable with early detection. Had Chip and his doctors been aware of the symptoms of the disease when they first presented, this Corvette legend might still be with us today.
