Enjoying my Wagon | SwedeSpeed

Oh man where do I start. Apologies for the lack of updates but with school starting a lot has happened. Finally got the transmission done after about 35 hours on the floor with my little jackstand cinder block combo, no leaks, I have reverse, runs great!

Did the rear main seal and couple other little things whilst doing that project. Next up was my wheel setup. With the Ford Maverick Steelies, clearance is less than ideal. I ran 12mm spacers all around to combat that. Front studs had enough grip to leave alone but I had to order BNE’s extended rears to be safe (I’ve lost a wheel on my Lexus before [also in the middle of the AZ to California drive, my parents are not thrilled] so I’m taking no risks). The only problem I found with that is that they’re incredibly long. Ended up cutting off about an inch and rounding the end. Now they fit great, wheels look great IMO, and no problems so far knock on wood. Also got some tint done (5 rear 20-25 front I forget)

Really happy with how the tint came out.

Next up, a week before I left a 940 came into a parts yard with a decent AC condenser, grabbed that and hit my AC guy. Definitely had to be a custom job, lots of things went wrong, but they wired a switch to my condenser (just can’t leave it on if fans are off), welded up a new filter setup, and some other odds and ends. I don’t care as long as it blows cold.

Almost there I promise. Next up, I foolishly thought all was well and hit the road for school. All WAS well up until about halfway to my destination. After Blythe, I stop at a gas station (best prices imo) and right as I was about to pull off the highway the car started bucking and dying like crazy. I pulled over and inspected everything, no leaks, nothing too obvious except a couple vacuum hoses that were not connected properly. Reconnected, no dice still. Was able to limp to the station and go from there. Long story short, parents (who were driving with me) and I decided they were going to go grab a trailer from Goodyear and head back to get me while I tried to limp to the next town. Didn’t work at all on my end but got some cool pictures I guess.

I sat in that spot for a good 6 hours. Not ideal in 100+ weather but I survived so it’s fine. Got the in tank/filter from FCP euros yesterday and miserably tore everything apart and put back together. Learned why I never want a Kentucky vehicle ever again when I had to break each clamp to get the hoses off due to rust. Also spilled gas EVERYWHERE in my buddies garage as I had topped off at that gas station. BUT she’s back to campus at least.

Hopefully no more crazy updates anytime soon, I have shims for my IPD cam coming eventually and some things that need fixing first. The real MVP’s are my parents and my buddies family for letting me drag them along in my misery.
