The Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price for any individual used vehicle can vary greatly according to mileage, condition, location, and other factors. The prices here reflect what buyers are currently paying for used 2022 MAZDA MAZDA3 models in typical condition when purchasing from a dealership. These prices are updated weekly.
Introduction
Ever since it came out in 2004, the Mazda3 has been something a little different in the world of compact cars, competing against formidable rivals like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. In typical Mazda fashion, it has had a well-tuned chassis and lively engine options that have made it fun to drive through the generations, on top of delivering the value and practicality of a small and affordable car. We also love that the Mazda3 has always been available as a sedan or a hatchback and has always offered a manual transmission option. These virtues remain true of the car’s fourth generation, which began in 2019.

Mazda CPO Warranty Program Highlights
- Limited Warranty: One year/12,000 miles, whichever comes first, after the new car’s limited warranty expires or at the time of the CPO purchase
- Powertrain Warranty: Seven years/100,000 miles, whichever comes first, beginning with the vehicle’s in-service date
- Roadside Assistance: Lasts the duration of the powertrain warranty
- Buying a Certified Pre-Owned Mazda
KBB Review Highlights
There were no radical changes in 2022, but Mazda upped the fun quotient in the Mazda3 in 2021 by adding a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder in the upper trims and a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter 4-cylinder in the base model. The brand also chose to lean into the premium feel and luxury-leaning details that have made the Mazda3 a favorite globally.

A wide variety in the Mazda3 model range ensures there’s something for just about anyone looking for a good buy in CPO compact cars. The affordable lower trims offer good fuel economy, enjoyable driving dynamics, modern safety tech, and a nicer interior than you might expect at this price point. As you move up the model range, an exciting 250-horsepower turbo engine becomes available, significantly boosting the driving excitement. All-wheel drive (AWD) is also available, which was uncommon in this class in 2022. If you want a manual transmission, it’s only available in the Premium trim with the hatchback body, but we love that it’s still on the options list at all.
Another thing that might surprise you about the Mazda3 is the feature content in the upper trims, which almost makes this humble Mazda feel like a luxury car. A few premium options include leather seats, a Bose 12-speaker audio system, a head-up display, a heated steering wheel, and a 360-degree camera. The Mazda3 can be a frugal commuter, an eager performance car, a near-luxury car, and anything in between. That kind of variety isn’t easy to find at this affordable price point in the CPO market, making the Mazda3 a stellar value.
