When it was introduced for 2013, the 427 Convertible Collector Edition was the fastest and most capable convertible in Corvette’s history.
Fast forward 12 years, and this powerful C6 remains a favorite with enthusiasts who continue to want the closest thing to a convertible Z06. The 427 Collector Editions don’t have the aluminum frame of the Z06, but they do feature the Z06’s 505-horsepower LS7 V8 engine, just placed on a steel chassis.

We spotted this black-on-black beauty on Craigslist out of Mooresville, North Carolina, and with 52,000 miles on the odometer and appearing to be in nice condition inside and out, it seems fairly priced at $49,500.
Indeed, looking at the Hagerty valuation tool, we see prices for a similar car range from $41,900 for #3 Good Condition to $56,500 for #2 Excellent Condition.

Only 2,552 of these 427 Convertibles were built in 2013, with a base MSRP of $76,900.
“The 2013 model year would be historic for Corvette, marking its 60th anniversary and the final year for the current ‘C6′ generation,” Chevy Vice President of Global Marketing and Strategy Chris Perry said at the time. “We couldn’t think of a more fitting way to celebrate these milestones than bringing back one of the most-coveted combinations in the brand’s history – the Corvette convertible and a 427-cubic-inch engine.”

Delivering 470 lb-ft of torque, the CE’s were outfitted only with a six-speed manual transmission and included the Z06’s driveline and rear axle system, standard Magnetic Selective Ride Control, and a rear-mounted battery. Helping with weight reduction were several carbon-fiber components, including the Z06-style fenders, floor panels, and raised hood that had been introduced on the 2011 Z06 Carbon Edition.
At the time, the CE’s were among the fastest convertibles in the world with an estimated 0-60 mph time of 3.8 seconds, quarter-mile performance of 11.8 seconds, and a top speed of more than 190 mph.
