At last, someone with a classic car who doesn’t expect a buyer to do all the heavy lifting!
When the current owner of this 1990 Corvette ZR-1 bought the car from the original owner in 2022, it had spent decades in storage, hence the low 5,000 miles on the odometer.
Fast forward a couple of years, and the car now has 7,000 miles. But thanks to the efforts of that second owner, this ZR-1 is running better than ever and waiting for a new owner who like himself appreciates the magnificent story of the “King of the Hill” ‘Vette.

This black beauty, which sports an immaculate gray leather interior, is being offered on Bring a Trailer, where the high bid is $12,000, with six days left in the auction.
The seller, who hopes the car goes to a person as fascinated by the development of the ZR-1 as he is, says there were “no real issues” when he picked up the car two years ago, but he decided “to refurbish things a bit since it had largely sat for so long.”

Subsequently, he’s taken care of a lot of mechanical items that might be of concern to the third owner, including new fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator, ignition coils, ignition wires, spark plugs, fuel pumps and strainers, drive belt, fuel filter, coolant hoses, secondary vacuum actuator pump, headlight gears/pellets, braided stainless-steel oil cooler hoses, clutch slave cylinder, battery, Nitto tires, and Dewitt aluminum radiator.
In addition, he’s repaired the horn, completed removed and refurbished the Bose stereo system (including head unit and CDM), repaired and charged an AC leak (finally someone who went ahead and took care of this frequently mentioned problem instead of just leaving for a new owner), refurbished the ECM with a Haibeck chip installed, and bypassed the sometimes-troublesome VATS system.

Now, he says all that work has paid off, rating the car as “turn-key” and noting that it now “runs spectacularly.” In fact, he’s added roughly 2,000 miles himself enjoying the car and says he continues “to be impressed with its performance capabilities in the modern age.”
Further, he says: “I hope that this ZR-1 will go to someone who appreciates the engineering effort that GM/Lotus/Mercury Marine undertook to make this car. I really do think it is underrated.”

This first-year ZR-1 features the 375-horsepower version of the all-aluminum LT5 double-overhead cam V8 co-designed by GM and Lotus and built by Mercury Marine. From 1993 to 1995, the horsepower climbed to 405.
The ZR-1 cost an additional $27,016 in 1990, its debut year, quite a chunk considering the MSRP of the base coupe was only $31,979! Besides the legendary engine, the ZR-1 option also included a wider rear end with square taillights, but that uniqueness would only last for one year as all Corvettes switched to the square-taillight look (just with a narrower body) in 1991.

Would you like to climb behind the wheel of this “King Corvette” and take it for a spin, feeling like royalty all the while?
