This 1963 Corvette won’t win any awards for originality, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great-looking car.
In fact, this very nice split-window Sting Ray – with a few non-original touches – has still picked up some trophies over the years, including “Ladies Choice” in the New Wave Cruisers Car Show in 2018, “Best of Show” at the Dodge City Speedway Car/Truck/Bike Show in 2019, and Second Place at the Class Glass Corvette Association Car Show & Swap Meet.

Now, this vintage C2 Sting Ray being offered on Bring a Trailer, where the high bid has climbed to $82,500 with just one day left in the auction.
Acquired by the seller in 2017, this Sting Ray had a BluePrint Engines 383 stroker V8 engine installed the next year. It should provide lots of fun with its four-speed manual transmission.

Meanwhile, the original paint was Saddle Tan, but a previous owner repainted it in the current shade of black (that has some scratches on each front fender, which isn’t surprising since it’s so hard to keep black looking perfect). It’s contrasted nicely with a Saddle vinyl interior, which looks to be in great condition but whether it’s original or not isn’t stated in the listing.
Other updates include an AM/FM/Cassette radio, aluminum radiator, Holley four-barrel carburetor, chrome 15-inch American Racing wheels inside Uniroyal Tiger Paw radials, polished alternator, and fabricated aluminum valve covers.. While some purists may lament all these changes, I really love the updated engine and wheels that IMHO make it look like exactly what it is – a fun car from the ‘60s.
