If you’re looking for a collectible C6 Corvette that’s a little out of the ordinary, you might consider taking a look at this 2009 Corvette ZHZ convertible being offered on craigslist out of the Dayton, Ohio area.
Priced at $28,000, the car has approximately 84,000 miles and is described as “excellent shape” and “runs great.”
This is one of only 375 convertibles produced that year as part of the “Fun Collection” for Hertz, all of them in Velocity Yellow to closely match the rental company’s iconic shade.

These convertibles joined 500 other similarly equipped Corvette coupes that had been built the year before for Hertz’s special collection that also included similar “fun” cars like Mustangs, 350Zs, and Shelby GT-Hs. These cars were available only at 24 Hertz airport locations in 14 states and Washington, D.C.
All 875 of the Corvettes were built at the assembly plant in Bowling Green, but then shipped a dozen at a time to Bob Hook Chevrolet in nearby Louisville for some finishing touches, including black stripes on the hood and rear deck lid. While Hook Chevrolet also added polished wheels to the coupes, the convertibles arrived with those wheels already outfitted at the factory. That cut the preparation time for Hook to six hours for the ragtops, against the 10 hours for the coupes.

Jack Tillman, parts manager at the dealership, explained the process, “They wanted stripes on them, and they wanted to take the regular wheels off, and put polished wheels on. They had a special decal that went on the console, and a special plate that went on each side, on the front fender. They also changed some screens in the fender cove area and behind the grille-they put chrome screens on there. We put spoilers on them, too.”
All of the ZHZs came with the 2LT package with side impact airbags, sport seats with perforated leather inserts, a parcel net, and Bluetooth, along with the GCA Ultimate Exterior Appearance Package that included a screen mesh package with specially designed screen meshing over the side covers, a special mesh grille, and exhaust plate screens, an underhood blanket/lamp, a special graphics package, an accessory spoiler, body-color door handles, and seven-spoke polished wheels. Finally, the cars received the ZHZ Special Edition option package with Velocity Yellow paint, Ebony seats, Magnetic Selective Ride Control, larger cross-drilled brake rotors, dual-mode performance exhaust, and six-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission.

With the standard LS3 V8 engine that produced 436 horsepower, these Corvettes were capable of going from 0 to 60 in 4.3 seconds.
