Here’s a 1959 Corvette that is far from perfect but still doesn’t need a new paint job, at least in our opinion.
Wearing the patina earned through 66 years of raucous living, this C1 is definitely an old-school Corvette. Indeed, it used to be a racer back in the day and even has a 2023 autograph from Don “Big Daddy” Garlits on the rear decklid, just above a moniker that proclaims this car as “The Insane Outlaw.”
The current owner has placed this blast from the past up for sale on Facebook Marketplace out of the Lakeland, Florida area, with an asking price of $49,500.

In case you’re wondering what that ’61 rear end is doing on a ’59, the seller explains that the car was clipped in the back at some point and then updated with the later-model rear clip.
These days, the body remains in good shape but admittedly does have lots of patina. The seller admits that he thinks it looks “great” just like it is, and we’re inclined to go along with his assessment.

While the car apparently isn’t used for racing now, it appears like it might not be out of the question to do so again. The owner explains that it’s mini tubbed with a nine-inch rear with four-link suspension and has four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes.
“This is a street car that drives great!” he says, with a small-block 350 mated with a Turbo 350 transmission.

While the paint job may be a matter of personal taste, a new owner would either have to install a new soft top or be content with the current hardtop or just take it off and enjoy cruising with the sun beating down on him.
While the asking price is close to $50k, the owner says he would consider trading for a Mid-Year coupe and is willing to add cash “for the right deal.”

So, let us know your opinion about this car – would you perform a total restoration or leave it just like it is – a living, rolling piece of Corvette history.
