Someone may be close to picking up this 1957 Corvette convertible for a song.
Currently being offered at no reserve on eBay, the high bid on this fifth-year C1 is sitting at just $26,100 – with the auction coming to a halt Thursday night.
Now, it just needs someone to carry it across the finish line as the seller notes that the car already has a “nice” white paint job and a “nice new” red interior, as well as a solid frame that’s been recoated.

The biggest question mark about the car remains its mechanical condition. A new engine has already been installed, mated to a four-speed manual transmission, but the motor still needs some work to be complete. On the bright side, the car “does roll and steer,” so it should be easy to load onto a rollback for transportation to a new home.
The seller admits the car still needs to be gone through mechanically and points out another flaw that while the doors have glass inside, we assume that means they require further attention to get them to roll up and down. Likewise, there is neither a canvas convertible top nor a hardtop included with the car, so a new owner will have to source one or both.

Located in Miami, Florida, this car is termed a “great candidate to be a restomod or restored back to original style,” the seller believes.
Since only 6,339 Corvettes were built in 1957, anytime you can save one, we consider it a plus. With some of the heavy lifting already completed, this one is already well on the way to being rescued for future generations of enthusiasts.
