• The Lamborghini Huracan STO crashed on the twisty Highway 9, blocking traffic.
  • When officers arrived, they checked on the occupants, and then they moved the car.
  • With the vehicle lying on its roof, officers used a cruiser to push it across the highway.

We all speed from time to time, but most of us don’t end up with a flipped-over Lamborghini on our hands. While the two occupants of this unfortunate supercar escaped with only minor injuries, what they had to witness is a whole different level of painful. They had to watch as officers pushed their flipped-over supercar off the road like it was roadkill. And now, thanks to video footage, we get to see it, too.

California Highway Patrol in Santa Cruz says that they found the Lamborghini after it crashed and was upside down. Fortunately, the driver and passenger were able to crawl out and get to safety. But the car? That was a different problem. It was blocking the road on Highway 9, a winding, narrow stretch that’s not exactly forgiving when it comes to careless driving.

“Quick-thinking CHP officers used a patrol vehicle to push the Lambo off the roadway, preventing further crashes,” the department said. To be clear, by “push the Lambo off the roadway,” they don’t mean after they flipped it back onto its wheels. No, rather, they used the brush guard on a Dodge Charger patrol car to shove the STO. Video captured by those at the scene is clear enough for us to hear the carbon fiber scraping across the asphalt.

A second video shot by a motorist passing the scene shows several individuals sitting nearby watching. “This crash was preventable. PLEASE SLOW DOWN! Hwy 9 is not a racetrack,” the department continued in its post. No doubt, this could’ve been much worse had another car come hurtling around the corner as the Lamborghini sat idle in the middle of the road.

Let’s all pour one out for this fantastic car driven by someone with more dollars than sense. Consider this one more great example to learn too. But hey, at least we can learn from someone else’s mistake, right? Better to avoid that kind of crash and burn than repeat it.
