Road closures around the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 will take place on April 15 and 17 for the three-day official visit of Chinese president Xi Jinping, and Malaysia Airports has announced the list of roads in the vicinity that will be closed.

Yesterday, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) announced extensive road closures and traffic diversions across several key routes in Malaysia from April 15 to 17.

Road closures around KLIA and Putrajaya will be from 6pm to 7pm on Tuesday, April 15, and from 8:50am to 9:50am on Thursday, April 17. The affected routes will be:

  • Lebuh KLIA
  • Lebuhraya ELITE
  • Lingkaran Putrajaya
  • Lebuh Putrajaya-Dengkil
  • Persiaran Selatan
  • Lebuh Gemilang
  • Jalan P5

If driving is unavoidable, the prescribed alternate route is to exit Elite Highway at the Bukit Serenia toll plaza, then to Kota Warisan, Bulatan Masjid, Jalan KLIA 1, Charterfield roundabout, and then to Terminal 1 departures, arrivals or parking complexes, according to the announcement.

Malaysia Airports states that there will be no access to Terminal 2 departures, arrivals and parking during the closures. To that end, Terminal 2 is accessible through KLIA Transit from Terminal 1, and passenger arriving at Terminal 2 must take KLIA Transit to Terminal 1 for alternative travel arrangements, it said in its announcement.

Passengers travelling to and from KLIA near these times are strongly advised to use KLIA Express from KL Sentral to and from KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and KLIA Transit from KL Sentral, Bandar Tasik Selatan, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya, or Salak Tinggi to and from KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

The Chinese president’s official visit will involve road closures over a three-day duration; see the list of roads involved, here.
