Chinese electric car brand Zeekr rolls out pop-up locations ahead of customer deliveries

Zeekr officially arrives in Australia at SXSW Sydney, but is also rolling out new pop-up locations for customers to come and see the X electric car ahead of the launch.

The Zeekr X is at SXSW Sydney on the brand's Z-Track for customers to experience.

The newest car brand in Australia has launched, with Chinese electric car specialist Zeekr debuting at the SXSW event in Sydney this week.

While Zeekr has made numerous appearances before at the Electric SUV Expo in Melbourne and hosting media events earlier this year, the brand is calling its presence at SXSW its “official debut in Australia”.

However, for those unable to attend SXSW in Sydney, Zeekr will also open pop-up locations around the country over the next few months for prospective customers to experience their vehicles.

Sadly, there are no stores confirmed for South Australia, the Northern Territory and Tasmania, but the remaining states will have a presence for a select period – excluding the Australian Capital Territory where a permanent location will be set up at Prestige Performance Centre.

Below are the locations and dates for Zeekr’s pop-up stores in 2024.

State Location Date
NSW World Square 7 October to 30 November
NSW Castle Towers 14 October to 26 November
VIC Eastland 14 October to 30 October
QLD Westfield Garden City 14 October to 30 November
WA Karrinyup Shopping Centre 7 October to 25 November
WA DFO Centre 4 November to 22 November

However, at the SXSW event, Zeekr has built a ‘Cityscape Track’ or ‘Z-Track’ at Sydney’s International Convention and Exhibition Centre (ICC) that is “designed to highlight the brand’s luxury aesthetic and advanced technology” in a controlled environment.

Zeekr has already announced pricing for its first model in Australia, the X city SUV, that will be positioned from $56,900 before on-road costs in rear-wheel-drive form and $64,900 with all-wheel drive.

The second model Zeekr to launch in Australia is the 009 luxury people mover.

Also on hand at the event is the 009 luxury people mover, due to launch in Australia by the end of the year and available in seven- or six-seat configurations.

Regardless of seating layout, the 009 features a 450kW dual-motor AWD set-up, as well as a 116kWh battery, air suspension, and Nappa leather interior.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed for the 009, but given its up-market specifications, it is likely to be well north of $100,000.
