I Rolled Disc and Bolted Down Rotors after Pulling Caliper to Spin Freely , show some Sign but not to Bad ..
Pulled Rotor & Cleaned Hub , Bleed Brakes & Reassembled – It Tested as Better , OK so I was Feeling .003 Scale on Hub from
15yrs . . ? Tested some More under Harder Operation 5 Stops from 50~60 Mph to 8Mph Similar as might be Driving in Mountains
Do to Lots of Hills & Curves ..
Issue Popped back up – Only Now could Feel more in Chassis , so Went to Rears as I had Parts for those .. &
Brake Pedal had been Down more then Half on Hard Long Stops Only .. Noted those Pads down some ..
Here’s Front Area Note Impact Socket as I Busted First Socket – but – that Socket was a Cheap One I had Laying around ..
Time for High Strength Sockets .. seeing Everything Looks to be Original 15 Yrs Never Touched – still 100% Volvo Parts &
Area where Calipers came Off still had Factory Paint !
Cleaned Hub then Very Light Grease on Fronts – Back Together those are OK .. Not Perfect ..
Rears were Warped :
Testing ~ some Testing & Checking
Rear Brake Rotors Tested & Felt were much Worst so Replacing all those Parts . .
I Actually Began wit Painting Rotors Hats Inside & Outside with High Temp Caliper Paint :
Then came Removal & Cleaning Hub & Pulling ( E Brake Motors ) as I wanted to see How Water Proofing was Holding Up ie: Read ( Old O-Ring )
Checked Perfect so those Only got New Light Coating of Special Grease ..
Using Brake Ceramic Purple Grease on Brake Slides & Pads Ends etc. & Semi Clear white stuff on Glide Pins & O-Rings . .
Electrical E Brakes weren’t too Bad to do .. Hanging onto Caliper & Bolting those Motors back in was Tricky . .
Still Very Doable – I had Never done those , so 1st Side took awhile – second Entire side done 1/2 Time .. was Not Hurrying . .
New Stainless steel Clips took a Minute to Figure out ..but Easy . . Greased those all up with Cotton Swab . . 4 to Keep things Real Clean ..
Some DIY’s in this Area should be Wire Bushing everything to Keep any Dirt from falling into Work & New Grease ~ Especially on Sliders ~
I’ll Place Other Pic’s up Later . . Hitting Hay !
Labor Rates even at Brake shops are $135hr .. so that’s Probably 2.5 ~ 3 hrs I Fussed around some 4hrs . .
Only Bleed small amount 4″ out of Lines – Probably do All Lines 100% Later – it got to 82 Degrees & 1 Hr First getting all Tools around Parts
Brake Cleaner , Rags & Blocking , Brass Brush Wheel for Drill – which had hard Time Finding – so – 5hrs Sun got to be Bit Much ..
Brake Bleeding for some Reason was Very Slow on Rears – Bleeders have Super Small Opening , so I’m Looking into Speed Bleeders . .
Called It day . .
