These days, finding a car with a built-in refrigerator, coolbox, or other drink-cooling feature is harder than you might think. While fridges were never a popular option, many more car makers offered them than today. For example, the Ford Flex offered a genuine (if small) refrigerator until the end of its run in the 2019 model year. The Honda Odyssey used to offer a box chilled with air from the vehicle’s HVAC system, but Honda discontinued it a few years ago. Volkswagen used to offer cooled glovebox compartments, but that feature is no longer available. The Cadillac Escalade just dropped its refrigerator in favor of a cooled box for 2025. Why? The culprit is probably a lack of demand. Still, supply chain issues during the post-pandemic era and the proliferation of other electricity-hungry features like wireless device charging contribute, too.
Whatever the cause, few brands still offer some sort of refrigeration in the vehicle, and those that do are generally at the luxury end of the spectrum. The most luxurious vehicles on the planet pretty much all come with or offer some type of refrigeration — nearly every vehicle from Rolls-Royce, Bentley, and Maybach can be fitted with a champagne cooler or the like.
On the other end of the spectrum, we have the pickup trucks and their drainable bed boxes. These boxes aren’t refrigerators; they allow you to pack them like ice chests for easy bedside beverage enjoyment (or bait or lunch). Somewhere between the bed boxes and the true fridges, we have the heated/cooled cupholders and HVAC-cooled compartments, which you’ll primarily find in luxury cars. Still, there are more attainable examples.
When the refrigerator, coolbox, or other cooling technology is not standard equipment on a vehicle, we have noted the option or package and its price. All quoted prices include the destination charge.
Here are the vehicles with built-in fridges, coolboxes, drainable bed boxes, and more. If you want to shop for a used vehicle with one of these options, we’ve included some of those, too. Vehicles are listed in alphabetical order by automaker.

1. 2025 Cadillac Escalade

Starting Price: $90,295
Price With Refrigerator: $119,795
Undeniably large and luxurious, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade is, perhaps surprisingly, among the more affordable vehicles available with a true refrigerator inside. To get it, you need only opt for the Premium Luxury Platinum or Sport Platinum trims and the $700 option to add the front center console fridge, which offers space for six 500-ml bottles. It also has a freezer function, which will cool the compartment to 23 degrees Fahrenheit. Like most in-car refrigerators, this unit only runs when you run the engine, but is insulated to help maintain its temperature when stopped.

Cars Available With Third-Party Refrigerator From the Dealer
A wide range of Chevrolet, Ford, Toyota, and Lexus vehicles are available with dealer-supplied and installed third-party travel refrigerators. While these are not as cleanly integrated as built-in units, they are considerably larger, more capable fridges, and they can also be removed from the vehicle, making them ideal for extended camping trips or other longer-term uses. Off-roading-focused brands like Dometic or ARB typically supply these fridges. Some of the cars compatible with these fridges include:
Used Cars With Built-in Fridges and Coolers
As mentioned above, several mainstream models used onboard cooling options. Here are a few great options for a used mainstream car, truck, SUV, or minivan that offers an in-car fridge, cooled cupholders, or bedside storage. Remember that with some used models, your dealership may be able to install one of the third-party fridges mentioned above. — Allyson Harwood
1. 2010-2016 Ford Flex

Price Range: $6,500-$12,000
The Ford Flex is a boxy, practical 3-row vehicle with a minivan’s step-in height and an SUV’s style. A refrigerated second-row console was an option until the 2016 model year. According to Ford, it “can chill up to seven 12-ounce cans, four half-liter bottles or two 20-ounce bottles to 41 degrees Fahrenheit; the freeze mode drops to 23 degrees Fahrenheit.” The fridge was an option for the 2010-2016 Limited and 2011-2012 Titanium models. You can also look for the coolbox in 2010-2019 Lincoln MKT EcoBoost and Reserve models.

2. 2011-2017 Honda Odyssey

Price Range: $7,400-$16,500
One of the best family cars on the market, the Honda Odyssey is user-friendly, comfortable, and reliable. For 10 years, it was available with a cooler box. The cooler box isn’t a refrigerator or freezer. Instead, the cool box uses cold air from the air conditioner to keep cool drinks cool. The feature was initially standard in the 2011 Odyssey EX-L, Touring, and Touring Elite trim levels and was available until the 2017 model year. If you also want the onboard vacuum cleaner, look for a 2014-2017 Touring Elite.

For two model years, Toyota offered a Trail Edition of the Tacoma. Based on the SR5, this 4-wheel-drive Double Cab has an inch more ground clearance and a locking differential. It also has TRD-sourced skidplates. But what’s most important for this story is that there’s insulated storage for drinks on the driver’s side of the bed.

4. 2009-2017 Volkswagen Tiguan

Price Range: $4,800-$9,800
If you’re looking for a vehicle with a cooled compartment, Volkswagen has you covered. They had a feature that let you choose when to allow cool air from the AC system into the glovebox. Turn a dial inside the glovebox, and it gets a wee bit frosty in there.
