I just got a 2007 S60 2.5T!!!
My first Volvo and my first car purchase 🏎, my first title 📄!
It’s at 130k miles and I actually got it off someone from these forums
I won’t name name em in case that sorta thing matters here! (but it’s probably not hard to find out)
I had never before met someone from the internet irl like that before, which was sorta crazy
I needed a car for school+work and I was not about to pay $11k💰 for a goddamned 2010 CAMRY or ACCORD at 140k+ miles
Like really the market is that bad?
Idk what I’d do without this place you thank u all swedespeed
ANYWAY, the thing is certainly quite a bit cosmetically beat up! I thought I knew what I was getting into when I get this car, yet I can (for now at least) confidently say I don’t regret it at all
Should I really take it to a body shop for the paint?
I’d have way more fun getting the tools and doing it in a garage myself, but there’s of course a few concerns with that
As a(n at least somewhat) paranoid person, I’d obviously be afraid of screwing the job up
If I took it to a body shop (I’ve never been to one before), maybe I could get a warranty for the work done
I don’t wanna wrap it because, besides the fact that you can’t leave wrap on forever, it’s unrealistically expensive (right now anyway) and can damage the exterior
At the same time, going to the pros to have it done in my situation would be the weak-willed thing to do. It’s the shortcut, the easy way out. Pay up and forget, right?! NO!!
Here’s how I see it, maybe an analogy to understand my process
I started playing guitar 🎸 (although still not very good at it) on a baritone electric guitar
It had much stronger string tension, thicker gauge wires, and hurt way more than a standard guitar since it was like a short bass! 🤕
I didn’t give up because it was hard, I instead LITERALLY STABBED MY FINGERS STRAIGHT INTO THE STRINGS
Noob baby’s fingers hurt from fretting? Fine, let’s compress those fingertips on the strings directly then! (to build the calluses to play more easily much sooner)
If I was good at and loved doing computer programming, I would have practiced ASMX86/ARM so that all other languages look like baby’s children alphabet books in comparison
Right now is probably the only time in my life I can do this stuff. After I graduate, I’ll be too swamped with the responsibilities of a real (as in actual professional/career) job. Probably more stuff that I won’t know about just yet, too
BLAH BLAH BLAH WHAT WAS I GOING ON ABOUT HERES THE PICS OF THE DAMN THING ALREADY
