BYD unveils “God’s Eye” DiPilot ADAS suite; to roll out in all BYD, Denza, Yangwang models sold in China

BYD has announced its DiPilot suite of driving assistance systems, also known as “God’s Eye” (天神之眼), which will be deployed in all new BYD models in China across three tiers, free of charge, starting with the BYD Seagull priced from 69,800 yuan (RM42,701) in China.

The three tiers of the ADAS system begins with “God’s Eye C”, which will be deployed in cars under the BYD brand, and this system will be powered by the DiPilot 100 computing system with a peak computing rate of 100 TOPS (trillion operations per second).

Hardware employed for the God’s Eye C suite includes 12 cameras, five millimetre-wave radar units, and 12 ultrasonic radar units. Of the 12 cameras, three are front-view, five are panoramic, and four are surround-view units. The five millimetre-wave radar units provide 360-degree coverage, while the front radar has a detection range of up to 300 m.

Next from the trio of systems is “God’s Eye B”, intended for deployment in vehicles from Denza and selected flagship models from the BYD brands. This tier of systems incorporates a lidar sensor, among others, and the suite is powered by a DiPilot 300 system, with a peak computing rate of 300 TOPS.

Topping the trio is “God’s Eye A”, for the group’s luxury brand Yangwang. This features three lidar units, and the system is powered by a DiPilot 600 system with a peak computing rate of 600 TOPS.

The Chinese manufacturer logged a claimed 72 million km in ADAS training mileage a day, and BYD chairman Wang Chuanfu says that the company has the largest cloud database in China, along with 110,000 engineers, of which 5,000 are R&D engineers for AI-assisted driving.

All BYD cars with the new “God’s Eye” DiPilot ADAS suite will operate on the Xuanji networking architecture which BYD describes as “one brain, two ends, three networks and four chains”; according to Cars News China. The Xuanji architecture will connected to the DeepSeek R1 AI model to improve its own AI capabilities, according to BYD.

This means that each vehicle equipped with the “God’s Eye” DiPilot ADAS suite packs a central processor, cloud AI, vehicle-side AI, Internet-of-vehicles, a 5G network, satellite network, a sensor chain, control chain, data chain and mechanical chain.

The two upper tiers, God’s Eye A and God’s Eye B will support navigation-on-autopilot (NOA) functionality in cities and on highways, while the entry-level God’s Eye C ADAS tier supports NOA on highways only, however the God’s Eye C tier is expected to gain support for NOA functionality in cities later on through an over-the-air update.
