It’s time to start sharing this awesome new Henry J Gasser project that Tommy Lee Byrd, the Hot Rod Hoarder, is building for a pretty special match race. I love this thing, just like most of Tommy Lee’s projects, and am looking forward to seeing it come together. If you missed the first video, where he saved this thing and brought it home, we’ve got a link down below. And in this video he’s going to start working on it and not only working to make it a runner again, but also to uncover decades of modifications and history.

Video Description:
This 1951 Henry J gasser is an abandoned race car that has been sitting since the 1970’s and I’m going to make it run and race again. This car has a lot of custom details inside and out, and it’s the perfect gasser in my opinion. The car features a 1941 Willys straight axle up front, a 12-bolt rear end, and all the room in the world for any engine combination I could ever dream up. In this video, you’ll see us tear the car down and begin making a parts list to get this thing back on its feet again. Watch along as I teach my kids why this Henry J is so cool, and see what it’s going to take to make it functional again.
Stay tuned for more build videos, as this is a huge project that will require multiple episodes to tell the whole story with the final part being an exciting match race with @Sleeperdude in his Funny Fairmont. Make sure you subscribe so you never miss an episode!
If you’d like exclusive access to build updates (photos) before the new videos come out, please consider becoming a member of the Hot Rod Hoarder Youtube channel. It’s a small fee and you’ll get updates along the way, and get some cool icons, and the satisfaction of helping us fund this intense project.
We have some great companies involved to support the build:
