Drag Racing Photo Galleries: Stock, Super Stock, And More Wheels Up Drag Racing From Maple Grove’s NHRA Divisional Lucas Oil Drag Racing
(Words and Photos by Joe Grippo) You may have seen my quick video that Chad posted the other day from the Lucs Oil Drag Racing Series recently held at Maple Grove Raceway in Pennsylvania. Well, we are back with more coverage, a photo barrage this time around. This race is the traditional season opener for the Northeast Division of the NHRA tour and is over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Some of the finest sportsman racers converge at Maple Grove Raceway for the opening salvo of their respective points chases.
All classes from Alcohol down to the Index racers had strong turnouts which made for great competition. Stock and Super Stock Eliminator are my personal favorites, and you will find they dominate the gallery. But dig into everything else, you will find some of the cleanest, most engineered and throughout machines in racing. Even a jet-powered truck! Maple Grove owners, the Koretsky family stepped up and hosted a Saturday Night of Chaos, with carload pricing, food specials, Alcohol Funny Car and Dragster eliminations, 8.50 Index qualifying and other classes under the lights. The night ended with a solid fireworks show set to patriotic classic rock. Good stuff!
The racing season at Maple Grove is under way with lots of great events on the schedule, including a Hot Rod Dragweek stop, the Reading NHRA Nationals, no prep action plus tons of big Money Bracket racing and some good old fashion Test & Tunes. See you there!
