(Photos by Kim Fuller) • Brittany Force clinched her 55th career No. 1 qualifier on Saturday at Sonoma Raceway with a blistering 3.645-second run at 343.16 mph, securing the top spot at the Denso NHRA Sonoma Nationals presented by PowerEdge. Her record-setting pass not only topped the Top Fuel field but also marked her third speed record of the year, now a full five mph faster than it was at the start of the 2025 season. With only ten Top Fuel entries, Force will square off against #10 qualifier Shawn Langdon and his Kalitta Motorsports dragster in the opening round of eliminations.
In Funny Car, Matt Hagan rocketed to the provisional No. 1 spot on Friday with a 3.861 at 332.59 mph, holding onto the position through Saturday. He’ll meet veteran Jeff Diehl in round one. Despite qualifying No. 1, Hagan was edged out in the final of the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge on Saturday by defending event winner Ron Capps, who laid down a strong 3.904 at 324.20 mph in his NAPA Auto Parts Toyota GR Supra.
Daniel Wilkerson’s SCAG Power Equipment Mustang erupted in a massive fireball following a catastrophic internal engine failure during eliminations. The body was completely destroyed as the car grazed the wall, but Wilkerson was able to climb out under his own power, thankfully uninjured.
In Pro Stock, points leader Dallas Glenn closed qualifying in spectacular style.
Glenn’s final pass of 6.471 seconds at 211.79 mph not only earned him his fourth No. 1 qualifier of the season, but also set a new track record and secured victory in the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge. He’ll take on Kenny Delco in Sunday’s opening round.
The Pro Stock Motorcycle class saw Richard Gadson earn his first career No. 1 qualifier with a 6.702-second pass at 200.77 mph, a milestone performance that topped a tightly contested field.
Eliminations kick off Sunday at Sonoma Raceway, with standout performances in all four professional categories setting the stage for a thrilling day of racing in wine country. FS1 will broadcast the Final Rounds of the NHRA Sonoma Nationals on Sunday July 7th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM ET.
