AutoHunter Spotlight: 1961 Chevrolet Corvette

AutoHunter Spotlight: 1961 Chevrolet Corvette

Posted on February 4, 2025 By rehan.rafique No Comments on AutoHunter Spotlight: 1961 Chevrolet Corvette

Now on AutoHunter is this Triple Crown-winning (Bloomington Gold, NCRS, and VetteFest) 1961 Chevrolet Corvette. It is powered by a numbers-matching 283 V8 with dual quads backed by a four-speed transmission (also numbers-matching). Features include Positraction, a white hardtop, 15-inch wheels, manual steering, and more. Painted Jewel Blue and Ermine White and equipped with a white convertible top over a blue vinyl interior, this award-winner comes from the selling dealer with documentation, a show display board, and a clear title.

Restored in the 1990s by D&M Corvette, this ’61 features luminescent Jewel Blue paint with Ermine White coves. Other features include a rear-mounted antenna, driver-side mirror, and white convertible top as well as the optional white accessory hardtop.

A set of blue 15-inch wheels features full wheel covers with knock-off hubs. They’re wrapped in 6.70 BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewalls.

The blue interior features vinyl bucket seats, a floor-mounted shifter, three-spoke steering wheel, Wonderbar AM radio, clock, and Deluxe heater.

Instrumentation consists of a 160-mph speedometer and 7,000-rpm tachometer plus gauges for the oil pressure, coolant temperature, battery, and fuel. The odometer currently reads 16,652 miles, though the title shows this car is mileage-exempt.

Nineteen sixty-one was the final year of the 283 engine. This one is a 270-horsepower version with dual quads, which was the top carbureted 283 available. As it has a mechanical camshaft and lifters, it certainly was one of the more aggressive Corvette engines available in 1961. It is backed by a close-ratio four-speed manual.

The undercarriage features an independent coil spring front suspension and a solid-axle rear, with the Positraction differential having 3.70 gears. Brakes are drums on all four corners. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear.

The auction for this restored dual-quad 1961 Chevrolet Corvette ends on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. (MST).
