Uber’s vehicle marketplace has cars for sale through local dealerships, with up to 15 per cent off, but the deal is not available to everyone.
Uber is offering discounts of up to 15 per cent on some Volkswagen, Audi, Cupra, and Skoda models when purchased through its vehicle marketplace, but they’re only for Gold, Platinum or Diamond drivers.
Uber‘s inventory is location-based, but in Melbourne, there are currently four vehicles shown for purchase.
The highest 15 per cent special is for the Audi Q7 large SUV, whereas the Audi Q5 and Q6 e-tron are discounted by 10 per cent, and the Volkswagen ID.4 Pro is available “up to eight per cent” off.
However, Uber lists all prices excluding GST and Luxury Car Tax (LCT), which are factored into recommended retail pricing, meaning discounts from standard drive-away prices might not be as large as expected.

Other offerings through its vehicle marketplace for drivers are to-rent, rent-to-own, finance-purchasing, or servicing vehicles – but the deals aren’t provided by Uber, rather come through dealers or manufacturers.
Also available in the Melbourne area are financing plans for some models, including BYDs (Sealion 7, Atto 3, Dolphin), Volkswagen ID.4 Pro and ID.5 GTX, and a Toyota bZ4X.
The electric models also fall under Uber’s “zero emissions incentives”, in which drivers can earn more when bought through its marketplace.

Depending on the offer, it may come with insurance, unlimited kilometres on rentals, and basic maintenance, which come directly from the vehicle partner.
Uber designed the platform for drivers not to need to own a car, launching it in Australia in February 2023.
It is set up “to give Uber driver partners easier access to vehicles via vehicle solutions partners,” an Uber spokesperson told Drive.

“Through partnerships with rental providers, alternative ownership providers, car dealers, OEMs, and others, the Vehicle Marketplace brings together a range of vehicle offers in one place.
“Driver partners can explore certain exclusive discounts and flexible options offered by our partners – whether it’s an inclusive rideshare-ready rental or savings on their next vehicle purchase – they can find a solution that suits their needs.”
Uber has other partnerships with Volkswagen aside from available cars to purchase; the pair recently announced the deployment of autonomous ID. Buzz vehicles in the United States, set to begin later this year.
