The American Society of Plumbing Engineers has released the 2025 ASPE Tech Symposium Technical Education Program, which features 40 sessions designed for plumbing industry professionals at all career levels. Each 90-minute session offers continuing education units that can be used for license and certification requirements.

The education program is presented in five tracks: codes & standards/water quality, system design, sustainability/construction discussion, healthcare/specialty design and fire protection & more. Visit aspe.org/2025-aspe-tech-symposium/education-program to view the full schedule and session descriptions. The symposium will be held Sept. 24–28 in Orlando, Florida.

Highlights include the following:

  • Medical gas experts Mark Allen, Mathis Carlson and Jonathan Willard, LEED AP, will answer the question “Why won’t medical gas design stand still?” in an audience-driven roundtable discussion.
  • IAPMO’s vice president of technical services and research, Christoph Lohr, P.E., CPD, LEED AP, will help navigate the new wave in the ocean of water quality and liability in his interactive presentation.
  • Lauren Berenato of Bradford White will break down the 2026 Department of Energy updates for commercial water heaters and explain how to stay in compliance using alternative technologies such as heat pump water heaters.
  • H2O Degree’s Don Millstein will show how long-range wide-area networks can be harnessed for water submetering installations in large, multi-tenant building projects to reduce water consumption and detect flooding.
  • Using real-world applications, Watts Water’s Todd McCurdy will explore the application of connectivity technology in critical plumbing components and highlight how it is used to enhance the performance, efficiency and sustainability of plumbing networks.
  • Legionella control specialist Chris Nancrede, EIT, ASSE 12080, offers tips for reducing the risk of legionella and Legionnaires’ disease during building construction.
  • Other compelling sessions will detail design requirements for a variety of plumbing systems and components including rainwater harvesting, onsite water reuse, fire protection, domestic water pumps, commercial water heaters, physical water conditioners, temperature- and pressure-balancing valves and more.
