They look pretty good and were only $450 so I went ahead and pulled the trigger on them. I messaged the seller and was trying to get some info on what model projector assemblies were used in these and they said that they weren’t sure. The bulbs are non-replaceable and are built into the projector unit. That is, I think the biggest downside, but they do have a 1-year warranty. On one of the Facebook groups I am in people have asked about these before and I guess I am the first person on there to try them out, so I’ll be the gunnie pig.
Overall, the build quality seems pretty solid, the fit was just like oem and the plastic is high quality. The plastic molding in the back is all custom and there are no openings like the ones on the oems for bulb access. There are two adjustment screws in the same location as the oem lights however the screw is metal along with the gear being made of metal. This is a pretty good upgrade from oem because the oem ones stripped out pretty easily. So far so good. They plug right into the original red plug however there is an extra wire for the drls that you need to hook up yourself. They supply the wire and on the end, you can see that it goes into a fuse slot. There are 2 fuses on this end, one for the original circuit and a second for the drls. It took about 10 min to get them installed and hooked up.
There is a startup animation that is kind of hard to see due to compression and having to convert it into a gif. I slowed it down to .5 so you can see it better.
The animation is nothing mind-blowing, but I guess it’s a cool little feature.
next I’m going to show you the drls and a turn signal. The drl and turn signals are switchback, which is why that extra wire is needed. This is with the headlights off so you can get a better view.
Again, it’s a gif and has been compressed so the image quality is not the best. Here is a close up with everything on:
The amber side marker light originally came with a standard bulb but I swapped it for an amber led before I did the install. This is the only replaceable bulb in these units.
As for looks, I like how they kept the stock vibe, and they fit the car very well. The drl lights might seem a little tacky but that all comes down to preference. My first priority when I was shopping around was performance, which brings me into my next few pictures showing that.
The low beam is bright and wide with a sharp cutoff halfway up preventing blinding other drivers. there is a noticeable step from the left to the right going up meaning the left light is lower than the right which increases low beam visibility even more. One important thing to mention is that this setup would be for the American market or wherever else they might drive on the right side of the road. I’m not sure if they make different models of these lights for different markets but I would ask before you plan to purchase. Here is a picture of the low beams:
In hindsight I should have taken the photos in landscape
When the high beams are activated, the low beams stay on, so you get all four projectors at the same time. The high beams are extremely bright and go very far down the road. The high beams would definitely blind other drivers, so I am a little more proactive when it comes to switching between highs and lows. Here are the highs:
There is a small hill where you see the end of the road and if you can see that little grey area at the end of the road, that is a shed. In the picture it’s hard to see but I could see it as I was taking the picture. That shed is about 650ft away. Normal high beams go to about 400ft and I would say the stock halogens are less than that so for me this is a big improvement in visibility.
Overall, I think the value to performance is well worth it, but we still don’t know about longevity. Having non changeable lights is the biggest thing but if it really came down to it and the warranty is up, then I guess it wouldn’t be that hard to fit some Morimoto’s in there since they were made to fit projectors.
Has anyone else bought these yet or am I the first again? I will post more updates later on if I run into any issues or find out any more information on them.
