Grant Stahla, Co-owner of Stahla Services, a nationwide provider of restroom, shower, and ADA trailer rentals again joins Enterprise Radio.
On this episode, the focus will be on the ADA 1 Stall Restroom & Shower Trailer COMBO, all the benefits and the specifics of renting this particular trailer for your needs.
Listen to host Eric Dye & guest Grant Stahla discuss the following:
(Host Eric Dye): Grant, who’s reaching for this trailer? Can you share the kinds of situations it’s built for and how you figure out if it’s got enough capacity for, say, a big event or a work crew?”
(Guest Grant Stahla): Yeah, you bet. So just like the name says, it’s a one stall. So you’re gonna be a little bit limited on how many people you can support, but it’s a really neat trailer that you can plug and play with maybe a bigger shower trailer or a bigger restroom trailer and be able to provide that. The handicap accessible or ADA, which is Americans with Disabilities Act Requirements. So and obviously this has a shower in it. So you’re able to provide a restroom, a shower and handicap accessible facilities, and so that you can just add it on to some other trailers or have it as a standalone unit. We’ve had this in several places where it was a locker room remodel and maybe they had a two stall restroom trailer in addition to this and it was able to support the entire — maybe as a Golf Club or a we even had a church — well, they are remodeling the restrooms, but it’s a really option when you need to support maybe 20 people at a time and you’re able to supplement it with a small other trailer. If it’s just that one trailer, you’re going to be looking at about 15 workers that you can support if it’s an office crew or construction and then that’s gonna be similar for showering as well. And then for events it’s about 1 stall per 75 guests. So this trailer would be about able to support about 75 guests at your event.nSo if that’s all you have, then you’re good to go with just this one unit. If you have a couple 100 people, I would suggest getting this +2 stall restroom trailers.
(Host Eric Dye): What’s a memorable story of this trailer in action? Maybe a festival, a tough job site, or something unexpected?
(Guest Grant Stahla): You bet. Yeah. So one of them that comes to mind. I was talking about the locker rooms earlier and those are great jobs that it was at. But Costco is 1 experience where we actually had this one stall, ADA restroom and shower combo trailer there and then obviously in Costco you don’t have the showers you don’t need the showers there for the customers and the employees. So we were able to partition off the shower area and still have a handicap accessible restroom Ada trailer there and that was supplemental to an 8 stall restroom trailer. So we were able to support all of the customers and all the employees there with those two trailers.
(Host Eric Dye): Can you break down the cost of getting this trailer? What’s renting it look like—daily, weekly, or long-term—and what about buying one outright?
(Guest Grant Stahla) : You bet. So with this trailer, you’re gonna be looking at about $8000 per month to rent it, and if that’s just with one month. If you’re gonna be looking at two to five months, then that price drops a couple $1000. So it’s $6000 per month for 2 to 5 months for 6 months. Plus, you’ll be at $5300 per month and then for a year and a half plus, you’re at $4200.00 a month so you can see how that pricing drops down pretty significantly from $8000 to $4200 per month. On the weekly pricing, you’re about $6000 per week and then on daily pricing, it’s about $1300 per day and that’s with a 7 day minimum. So you can have a lot of times we’ll be able to support emergency response with a water main break at a store or maybe a hospital or some facility where they have some plumbing issues, so we’re able to get out there and bring a restroom trailer shower trailer there to support the facility so they don’t have to shut down. So that’s what that daily price is for. But so those are rental rates. The purchase price you’re gonna be looking at about $85,000 for this unit. It’s only one stall, but because it’s a handicap accessible restroom and shower trailer and it lowers all the way to the ground and there’s aluminum ramps and there’s propane and there’s water tanks and the frame is built, the waste tank is actually built differently than all our other trailers in that it’s above ground because it has to lower all the way to the ground, and then there’s different pumps in there to be able to move move the waste, move the fresh water above ground, so ends up being a very complicated trailer, hence the price tag.
(Host Eric Dye) : Paint us a picture of this trailer’s design. What do you see walking up to it, and what’s the experience like stepping inside?
(Guest Grant Stahla) : Yeah. Well, if you’ve ever seen an ice fishing camper out on the ice, it’s kind of what it looks like here. You’re all the way to the ground and you’ll walk up and it kind of looks like a cube, I will talk about the dimensions later, but it’s just looks like a box on the ground. The wheels actually lift up inside of the unit, so sometimes you can see the wheels sometimes are exposed, sometimes they’re not, they aren’t. You’ll see an aluminum ramp, so sometimes they’re about 12 feet long. Other times they’re 16 and then they’ll be going different directions. They’ll come out of the one stall and then go right or left or out in the middle, depending on where the best access is, and then on the front you’ll see a big propane tank for to be able to power that water heater, but otherwise a lot of these trailers are going to be aluminum. Some of them will be fiberglass it depends on the manufacturer, and you’re just gonna see one door at the entrance and then on the backside you’ll have another smaller door for the mechanical room.
(Host Eric Dye) : What does it take to keep this trailer running smoothly? Can you walk us through its water, power, and transport requirements?
(Guest Grant Stahla) : The trailer is about 14 feet long, and then there’s another 4 foot for the tongue, so it’s a lot smaller than some of the other trailers. The weight — it’s about 4300 lbs empty. And then the axle is actually a 6000 LB axle, the freshwater tanks 140 gallons the waste tank is 320 gallons. And the power you need is anywhere from 1 to 4 connections depending on if it’s winter or not. If it’s winter, you need more connections. But yeah, those are some of the specs for that. Obviously when you get to the site, you’re gonna be working on lowering it all the way to the ground. So you’re gonna disconnect from the vehicle that you haul it with and then a lot of the jacks are hydraulic. So you lift up the back corners of the trailer, and then you lift up. There’s jacks in the front, two sides as well, so there ends up being a jack on each of the corners, and you lift the entire trailer up, and then you pull a pin in the axle for the single axle and it’s called a drop axle. You pull a big pin and then you just lower the trailer and it actually lowers all the way to the ground because that axle has a hinge and it rotates up to be off of the side of the trailer, so pretty neat. And it’s a really neat way for everyone to be able to access that trailer because it lowers all the way to the ground.
(Host Eric Dye) : Grant, if listeners need to remember just one thing about this trailer, what should it be?
(Guest Grant Stahla) : Oh well, this is a Jack of all trades. It’s a master of being one stall that does it all. So if you need a handicap accessible stall and you need a restroom and you need a shower, I would choose this trailer and then you can pick any other trailer that you need to supplement. If you have a larger event or a medium event, but give us a call, 844-900-3190. We’d love to talk to you through this about whether one stall, handicap accessible restroom and shower trailer combo is for you.
