Acura has pulled the covers off its RSX Prototype, a sharply styled premium performance SUV that offers a clear look at the brand’s next-generation all-electric future. Making its first appearance in a striking Propulsion Yellow Pearl finish, the RSX Prototype is turning heads at Monterey Car Week, appearing at both The Quail and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
Slated to arrive in production form in the second half of 2026, the RSX will be Acura’s first model engineered entirely in-house on Honda’s new global EV platform. It will also be the first EV produced at Honda’s EV Hub in Ohio, built alongside the Acura Integra on the same flexible assembly line that can handle internal combustion, hybrid, and fully electric vehicles. This marks an important milestone for Acura’s electrification strategy and manufacturing flexibility.
The RSX promises more than just striking looks. It will usher Acura into the era of Software Defined Vehicles with the debut of ASIMO OS, a proprietary operating system that learns its owner’s preferences and driving habits to deliver a tailored in-car experience. Beyond infotainment, ASIMO OS will manage driver assistance systems, automated driving features, and other vehicle functions, while over-the-air updates will keep the RSX evolving with new features and services.
Performance is firmly in the spotlight with standard dual-motor all-wheel drive, sport-tuned double wishbone front suspension, a low center of gravity, and large Brembo brakes. Acura says this setup will deliver a dynamic and engaging drive worthy of its performance heritage. The RSX will also serve as mobile energy storage, able to power devices, appliances, or even provide backup power to a home.
Design-wise, the RSX Prototype takes cues from last year’s Acura Performance EV Concept and pushes them further. Its coupe-like silhouette, fastback roofline, deeply sculpted side panels, flush door handles, and integrated ducktail spoiler create a sense of motion even at a standstill. Wide flared wheel arches house large 21-inch multi-spoke wheels that showcase bright red Brembo calipers. The long wheelbase and minimal overhangs enhance its planted, athletic stance.
The front end evolves Acura’s Diamond Pentagon grille design with a bold lighting signature, separated slim LED daytime running lights, and low-mounted LED headlamps. At the rear, a full-width taillight pays tribute to the second-generation NSX, accompanied by a new “ACURA” wordmark across the tailgate.
According to Acura Creative Director Yasutake Tsuchida, the RSX embodies “timeless beauty and a high-tech feel that is essential for a performance and unique brand.” From its aerodynamically driven proportions to its cutting-edge tech, the RSX Prototype signals a confident step forward for Acura’s design and engineering ambitions.
As it makes its rounds at Monterey Car Week, the RSX Prototype is more than just a showpiece. It is a clear statement of intent from Acura, blending electrification, performance, and technology into a single vision of what’s coming next.
