Independent digital artist reimagines the humble Toyota Prius as a low-slung roadster with exotic proportions

- The fifth-gen Toyota Prius has been digitally transformed into a wild open-top roadster.
- Zephyr Designz borrowed styling cues from Lamborghini, McLaren, and Porsche models.
- The radical CGI concept shows creative freedom, though a real-life build remains unlikely.
The Prius may have once been known more for efficiency than looks, but the fifth generation that arrived in late 2022 changed that perception entirely. The hybrid pioneer shed its dowdy image and emerged as something far more stylish, catching the attention of both fans and digital artists.

Among them is independent designer Vishnu Suresh, better known as Zephyr Designz, who has pushed the Prius makeover into a realm of radical imagination, proving that even the humblest hybrid isn’t safe from supercar daydreams.
From Hybrid Hatchback to Roadster
The Prius Roadster trades restraint for drama, with proportions that feel closer to a Lamborghini than a Toyota. Its aggressive widebody kit evolves from earlier Prius concepts by the same creator, pushing the shape into unmistakably exotic territory.
Only a handful of elements remain from the original Prius, including the hammerhead-style LED headlights, the slim upper grille, part of the tailgate, and the windshield. Everything else has been reimagined, turning the five-door fastback into a flamboyant two-door roadster.
The new look includes ultra-wide fenders with integrated vents wrapped around massive HRE alloys, vented bumpers, a sculpted hood, and deeper side skirts. With the roof gone, the cabin opens up into a custom rear deck styled like a supercar’s engine cover. A ducktail spoiler and centrally-mounted dual exhausts within the diffuser finish the dramatic redesign.

Zephyr Designz pulled from a wide mix of inspirations. The diffuser channels Porsche 911 Speedster, the hood vents nod to the McLaren 765LT, and the aggressive rear deck carries echoes of the Lamborghini Aventador. The result is a Prius that feels more like a mash-up of Italy and Stuttgart than anything rolling out of Toyota’s factories.
While today’s production Prius tops out with a 220 hp (164 kW / 223 PS) plug-in hybrid powertrain, the roadster’s stance seems to beg for something much more extreme. A theoretical mid-mounted V8 paired with dual electric motors up front could push it straight into Lamborghini territory, with plenty of room in the rear to house the setup. None of this is happening, but if we’re already in fantasyland, why not dream big?

Of course, digital creations like this thrive on imagination rather than feasibility. Still, no one can rule out the possibility of sparking ideas for real-world custom builds. After all, independent designers like Kyzyl Saleem have proven it is possible to make the jump from the digital world to reality.
