A New Recommissioning Service for Commercial HVAC

A New Recommissioning Service for Commercial HVAC

TORONTO — Armstrong Fluid Technology has launched a new service that the company says will help building operators restore and maintain top performance and efficiency in HVAC systems.

The new SMART Recommissioning service optimizes pumps, controls strategies, and BAS integration, a press release from Armstrong said. Working with current building loads, the program updates the asset’s configuration settings, enables cloud connectivity, and documents asset details.

Prior to the completion of a newly constructed building, the building load values used by engineers and contractors to commission HVAC systems are only estimates. Because actual loads are often different from estimates, equipment settings must be adjusted to ensure optimal efficiency. In addition, at any point in the lifespan of a building, changes in tenant makeup and sun exposure can affect the heating and cooling requirements.

“Buildings and HVAC systems can experience a wide range of changes post-commissioning. For optimal HVAC performance and efficiency, these changes must be reflected in the current system settings,” said Shashank Lal, Armstrong global service experience leader. “SMART Recommissioning will help operators, managers, and owners get the best performance from their system and maximize their investment in high quality solutions.”

The new SMART Recommissioning service includes:

• A multi-point check of pump operations.

• Activation of performance bundles to optimize equipment for better efficiency.

• Firmware updates, if required.

• A 30-day comprehensive service report of asset operation that identifies any issues.

• Twelve months of additional parts and labor warranty, subject to the conclusions of the service report.

• A 12-month subscription to the Pump Manager performance tracking service

“Ultimately this service will save energy, reduce operating costs, and extend equipment life,” Lal added.
