It’s not wise to mess with the best-selling vehicle you have, and for 2025, Toyota’s basically left well enough alone when it comes to the RAV4. That said, it’s getting a complete makeover for 2026.

Toyota cut back on the number of variants you can get the 5-seat compact SUV in for 2025, eliminating the off-road-focused Adventure and TRD models. It now comes in four trim levels — L, LE, XLE Premium, and Limited. There is a hybrid model, which we cover separately. The RAV4 faces some steep competition, including the  Honda CR-V, Nissan Rogue, Subaru Forester, Chevrolet Equinox, and Mazda CX-5.

Let’s take a look at what the Toyota RAV4 offers inside.

Passenger Room and Comfort

A Look Inside the 2025 Toyota RAV4

Ready to haul five people, the RAV4’s cabin is spacious and functional. That starts with a 6-way manual adjustable driver’s seat and a 4-way seat for the front passenger. Move up to higher trims, and the front row gets an 8-way power seat for the driver with 2-way lumbar controls, while the passenger enjoys a 4-way power seat, making for a more comfortable ride. In the Limited trim, the front seats are heated and ventilated.

Second-row denizens get a fair bit of room, as well. At 37.8 inches, rear-seat legroom is good for a compact SUV, although the Kia Sportage and Honda CR-V offer more. No matter where you are in the RAV4, you should be comfortable courtesy of the available dual-zone climate control with rear vents.

Features and Tech

Toyota offers an 8-inch touchscreen equipped with the Toyota Audio Multimedia system for all trim levels. It comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a 6-speaker audio system. However, a 10.5-inch touchscreen is available in higher trims.

Buyers who want better can opt for an available 11-speaker JBL Premium sound system, including a subwoofer and amplifier. Smartphones and other devices can remain charged up using the two front USB Type-C charging ports. The LE and XLE versions offer Qi wireless charging as well as additional USB charging ports for rear seat passengers. With an active Drive Connect subscription, owners gain access to an Intelligent Assistant, which can be voice-activated by uttering “Hey Toyota.” Additionally, Cloud Navigation and Destination Assist come with the package.

The 2025 RAV4 features Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, a suite of active safety systems. It includes a pre-collision System, dynamic radar cruise controls, lane departure alert, automatic high beams, and more.

Materials and Design

The entry-level RAV4 LE and XLE’s seats are draped in fabric. As you rise up the trim levels, you get into the more resilient SofTex faux leather option. A heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated seats up front, and heated seats in the back comprise an available Weather Package for the XLE and higher trims.

With an optional panoramic glass roof, the RAV4 gains a bright, airy feel that makes it seem more upscale than its segment. Additionally, with illuminated knobs, buttons, and door switches at night, the overall look and feel remains decidedly upmarket.

Cargo Room and Flexibility

2025 Toyota RAV4 cargo area.

Toyota’s really good at making sure there are plenty of places to store things, and the RAV4 is no exception. Right below the climate controls, there is a storage tray to hold small items. Additionally, splitting the upper and lower halves of the dashboard on the passenger side is a shelf where additional items can be placed. The XLE model also includes a center armrest with two additional cupholders in the rear.

Not only is there ample space for people, but there’s also a good amount of cargo space. With the 60/40-split second-row seats upright, 37.5 cubic feet of room lies behind. The uninterrupted volume stretches to 69.8 cubic feet when you fold the second row flat. To make access to the cargo area even more convenient, Toyota offers a power liftgate available for the XLE and XLE Premium, as well as a hands-free power liftgate option for the Limited.
