Kia was the second best-selling brand in September due to strong eco car and SUV sales.
Its 6.4% market share represents 17,535 cars sold in the UK (249,842 globally), which represents 8.3% of Kia’s export market sales. September adds to Kia’s growing roster of record months this year which includes February, April, June, July, and August.

Sales of 92,420 units and a 6.1% market share positions Kia as the fourth best-selling brand in the country YTD, representing a near 3% year-on-year rise following Kia’s record 2023 when the brand sold 89,953 vehicles by end-September.
Kia is the UK’s second best-selling eco car brand, with one in every two (49%) sales being either a fully electric, plug-in hybrid or hybrid model. Kia is on target to meet or exceed the UK ZEV mandate.
Kia’s dominates the Compact SUV segment which accounts for 60,399 of this year’s total sales in the UK and led to a 13.6% segment market share.
The Sportage is Kia’s best-selling model both nationally and internationally, and it was the UK’s most popular model of any marque in September, with 7,482 sales. This represents 16% of the 47,207 global Sportage sales in September. The Sportage is the UK’s second best-selling model of any make YTD, with 37,582 units sold.
The Picanto is September’s and 2024’s second most popular city car for retail-only sales, with a significant 21.2% market share YTD thanks to 9,076 units sold across both retail and fleet.
